Hi guys,

I have a V2801SG (LINKED) connected to my MiWifi 3c router. This modem is giving me issues by disconnecting and not being available on 192.168.1.1 like it should be. The last time this happened, it was somehow found to be on 192.168.1.254 and I used this as gateway address on MiWifi to make it connect again. This time it has disappeared again and I can't seem to find it. Any help will be appreciated. The SYS light blinks like 1/2 per second and ACT LED blinks very fast and REG is always on. Can anyone please help me debug?

Thanks.

If you connect it direct to your PC via LAN cable and set your PC to DHCP (automatically obtain IP), after that open network properties of your LAN in windows/linux and see what is the "gateway IP" that will be the current IP of your Netlink device.

Set a password for your netlink login, if the default is "admin" user and "admin" password then maybe some external malware on internet is doing some mischief.

If you can post a screenshot of your netlink admin web UI then people can help further but I am guessing it is ZTE based firmware so to enable bridged mode just delete the WAN connection created in your profile (but first note down all configuration details like BSNL username, VLAN ID etc) so maybe you can configure it on your Mi router.

I also have similar appearance (ZTE web UI/firmware) devices Digisol and OptiLink, it used to reboot frequently if my router was connected to it. It would work only if single PC was connected via LAN, but it works now that I have configured it in bridge mode and configured all my username/VLAN ID etc on my Netgear R8000 router.

@vishalrao Thanks for replying. When I try to connect it through my windows 10 pc, I just get a 169.X IP address which I know is wrong. Can you think of something else.

I'm pretty sure it is also a ZTE device. I would have to try to set it to bridge mode the next time, thanks. I just have to note down details and delete it, right? Then I can use PPPoE on my wifi router to connect to internet?

Did you check what is showing up as Gateway IP on your Win10 LAN properties (status section)? That will be the IP of your Netlink device.

You should be able to use PPPoE on your router, yes, but check if there is a VLAN ID number specified in the netlink WAN settings and if your router supports specifying VLAN ID somewhere (maybe in IPTV section like how it is in my Netgear router).

Try setting manual IP in Win10 to 192.168.1.2 and then try both gateway IP manual 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.254 ? Then see if you can at least login to the web UI of the Netlink device?

Does the Netlink device have a hard reset button/pinhole which you can press to factory reset the device? (but then you will lost the settings stored in the device) maybe best to get in touch with your LCO/vendor who provided you the connection. Maybe they have done some custom autoconfiguration from the OLT server side.

Also tried this. no juice.

Yeah, I've called the BSNL guy as a last resort. He should help me reset the router and the configuration back in order. Thanks for all the help.

For anyone still searching, what worked was

1. Reset GPON modem. Make sure you have you username and password ready. Resetting will remove the username and password.
2. Use 192.168.1.5 as ipv4 with default subnet mask 255.255.255.0. Keep everything else empty
3. You should be able to login 192.168.1.1 using Firefox. If not reset again and again. I had to reset my modem 3 times for it to work.
