I was one of few early adopters of Excitel ethernet back in 2015 I think and left it in few months due to downtime every other day, thanks to LCO n way they handle switches n wiring. This time on dedicated fiber line by Excitel I am told downtimes are fewer.

This time back from Airtel who were not ready to increase speeds(16mbps on vfiber for last 3 years) and facing few network problems like some app won't download or stuck at 99% unless i switch to mobile data Plus customer support of Airtel was down the drain in last one year. I think mobile support and landline support is on same level now aka hopeless. also upload speed hurts more than download.

Got new diwali offer plan 2000 for 4 months 100mbps + 750(refundable but no receipt provided) for ONT + 300 for installation(for box with ont n yellow wire).
LCO took 2 days to install it & would have taken probably one more but a warning after wire installation led to same day final activation else he would have lost all the effort till now. And same old money saving ways were used, no use of clip, tying wire to dish n pipes . I think Excitel should handle new installation itself instead of leaving it to LCO.

Speed is 100mbps without any ping loss for now.
But connection do becomes little jittery at too many times so a big no for gamers.
Even youtube streaming sometimes show pixelation when no big load on connection.
At one instance Whatsapp was not connecting.

So glitches still are there like old excitel but no complete downtime for time being.

I'll update if I face more problems. Hopefully rain, moisture and dust won't affect fiber.

Few Results

Today I'm getting a diff PPPoE (10.42.0.1). The gateway wasn't pingable for some time so PFSense thought it was down lol.

Public IP is different too 110.235.236.x

Speeds look a bit better.

Earlier, to SG dl speeds were always below 300.

getting this series for quite sometime.
never noted pvt one. any changes speed or ping changes?

No DNS hijacking (yet). Hopefully they don't add that stupid firewall rule. Pings are around the same

Have been on the above ranges for quite a while (more than 2 months). Never realized no dns hijacking 🙂

Moments like this I'm glad I have a backup ISP.
Do you backup isp needs regular recharge or you can activate it when required by paying the recharge amount?

I recharge actively. Tripleplay provides static IP which I use for torrenting.

But ya I can activate it when I want to like Excitel.

finally got upgrade to ftth. I opted for 750rs onu and got richerlink rl801g. I am on 200Mbps plan and here are some of my test results:

I have one question regarding this dumb onu. Is it in bridge mode by default or do i have to make that change? I dont wanna be behind 1 more nat.

and one more question regarding plans. Right now which plan do you guys find the most value for money? like in terms of speed to price ratio

and can you guys suggest me some good quality of cat 6 cables. like genuine ones. ones that are true to international cat 6 cable standards

edit : I think it will be better if we rename this thread to just excitel fiber from excitel fiber west. I'm from south delhi but posted in this thread anyways because I didnt wanna create one more thread just for excitel fiber review.

edit 2: I dont think these dumb onu's are capable of handling speeds greater than 300Mbps. I will try 300M plan for 1 month and if i get consistent 300Mbps then i will probably go for multi month plan otherwise will go back to 200Mbps

1. The dumb ONU is in bridge mode by default, you can connect ethernet to your own router and do PPPoE there.
2. Genuine CAT6 is hard to find. Though I'm sure others on the forum will have better knowledge of where to get one than I do. Most manufactures add Aluminium to the cables to reduce cost. For short distances (<10-20m) without PoE this is perfectly fine though for Gigabit.
3. Dumb ONU can handle more than 300Mbps in bridge mode. With PNPL I was getting 500-600Mbps to peered servers in bridge mode with similar model dumb ONU.

I have same model richerlink rl801 with e in the end. I think your is GPON while mine is EPON.
It can easily support 300mbps+ with Deco M4 on both wireless and wired.
While Netgear R6220 before did 300mbps on wired but unable to cross 200mbps on wireless.
Both are AC1200 routers aka N300+ AC800
