@webie seriously? Family? This is a freaking telecom company. Nothing more. And it's not about the extra Rs 10. It's about not keeping a promise. Also, the fact that laws in India are not strong enough to oppose such malpractices. And before anybody goes all defensive, let me just say that this applies to all TSPs out there.

Did you saw the video? Jio has many users/customers but the people who use 2G/3G are giving miss calls to Jio phones, for ex my maid and I don't want her to pay for calls so I call her back always as Jio is free. Now for us , it's good, but for Jio, ofcourse AVOID are taking advantage of Jio. TRAI has always said that IUC charges will be 0 eventually but the date keep on extending and now even extending after 1st Jan'20. Jio launched their services based on that and never thought other operators are that greedy that , they won't think of customers and won't any other business model to lure customers in rather than use IUC charges to trap Jio into paying them. Now this move from Jio not only puts Jio at harm but TRAI too. TRAI will be under pressure now as they know the charges are gonna be paid by the customers hence once everyone get's to know the whole story, customer's will force TRAI to end IUC charges. They might stick to their deadline of 31st Dec'19. If that happens, everyone comes out of this with happy face except AVOID.

Jio has done more than enough and Jio is a family. I am a part of it so are millions of other customers. In a family if you can't stick together in bad times, Jio is better off letting those customer's go. Jio is still giving great plans and I am very much content in having the services. I myself have converted so many friends/fmaily members to shift to Jio and none of them have complained me about these IUC charges, everyone is more than willing to support Jio here. It's just those ungrateful customers (who no matter how much they threaten to leave Jio , they will still stick to it as 10rs really won't make a diff and they know it) who are giving Jio bad press here.
completely agree with your points
lol AVOID ....I see what you did there ..

@webie paying Rs 20-30 extra is not the problem, its how jio approached IUC issue by reducing ring time to half, then trying to blackmail TRAI to change rule which suits them better.

And if they are charging extra to call other networks they should also credit us IUC charge they make if we receive calls from other networks.

About network quality experience its not the same for everyone but thats a different issue.

If they are not making profit they should increase tariff for all users.

What happens to the three months plans which are still going on?
Do we need to do a top up now or after expiry in November or December?

plans activated till 08 oct do not require IUC top up till their expiry for now

Because TRAI was supposed to remove IUC charges from 1 January 2020 and it looks like they have reneged from that promise.

Ambani has a Time Machine, he went exactly one year into future and found out TRAI announced zero IUC charges from 2020 in 2017. So he went back to 2016 and announced free voice calls

No offense but would you mind not taking some of my words literally and on face value?

Btw THEY ARE JUST FREAKING CUSTOMERS NOTHING MORE is probably AVOID thought when they started looting us. No one can understand this btw, I used to pay for 300rs/gb, I paid 9k/month to Airtel for extra data. No one can understand this unless they have gone through this pain. You guys had broadband, fast! I am from Jammu and we had shitty BSNL giving bad service (money wasn't an issue but service). And I used to pay atleast 5-6 times a month just for my GF's recharges for data. She probably will say bad things abt Jio too here coz that money never came out of her pocket. I am happy that laws are not strong enough in India for this as these kind of laws will just make telecom operators provide that shitty corp culture to their customers. Let corporations breathe a little here.

They are not making profits or very less margins in tarrifs but that's not the business model Jio is after. They want every device, service in your home/office. They want to give you IoT devices, services. That's what even Google is all about. I prefer them to blackmail TRAI into submitting as this not only suits Jio but customer's too.

If they aren't making profits , they shd increase tarrifs mentality is not of a long term businessman. See Amazon is doing the same as what Jio is doing, taking losses and trying to gain monopoly. Airtel did what every damn Indian does, think of short term and loot.

Even if one day Jio's tarrifs increase more than Airtel, I'd stick with Jio only because they had the courage to show Indians the dream of low cost data and making Airtel submit. Not all customers are with Jio coz of low tarrifs , some are with Jio coz they have bad blood with Airtel and I am proud to say I am one of them.

Ha! My parents still have BSNL. Service is still pathetic. They promise 10mbps but gives like 6mbps and service is pathetic anyways. I guess that's expected in Tier 3 city. My brother is our shop got FTTH from BSNL and he is overjoyed and astonished by those speeds in Jammu lol. I am enjoying FTTH in Delhi from past 2 yrs so it's not new to me.

Even if we keep aside the price and service of BSNL, they show their true colors by their IDGAF attitude with employees lol. Damn Govt Job.

@webie Definitely, to each her/his own and I respect that. On another note, I did have 512kbps BSNL DSL for like 10 years 😝. I got the taste of fast broadband only like 2 years ago.

🥴 I started with VSNL dialup in 1996 running on a MTNL line till 2003 (it was 3 rents, one was VSNL annual rent & one was MTNL rent & plus number of calls consumed on the net ). Then 'graduated' to 'broadband' from Sify which was 24 kbps. Then MTNL broadband at 2 Mbps in 2005. Regarding prices I started using a mobile phone in 1998. I guess we all know the rates then.

People are acting up because they added separate recharge for IUC only. What they needed to do was come out with new plans which included IUC. That way masses would have eaten it up like always. I am 100% sure Airtel and Vodafone will follow suit.

Zero IUC charges were being discussed much before it was announced in 2017. It was always the end goal for TRAI. I am pretty sure Ambani has a team of MBA graduates who can make an educated guess on the timeline of removal of IUC, and this is after ignoring the clout of Ambani.

Again, in 2012 even Voda and Airtel were against IUC, what changed was the fact they realized IUC is good for their revenue streams and stifles competition. In fact here is Vodafone Idea India CEO

One word : Lootere's AVOID.

Jio took a stand. That stand impressed millions. Taking that stand was all any AVOID subscriber could ever hope for.
