Then what about prime membership? They are also charging it for a year 🙄
completely agree with your pointsDid you saw the video? Jio has many users/customers but the people who use 2G/3G are giving miss calls to Jio phones, for ex my maid and I don't want her to pay for calls so I call her back always as Jio is free. Now for us , it's good, but for Jio, ofcourse AVOID are taking advantage of Jio. TRAI has always said that IUC charges will be 0 eventually but the date keep on extending and now even extending after 1st Jan'20. Jio launched their services based on that and never thought other operators are that greedy that , they won't think of customers and won't any other business model to lure customers in rather than use IUC charges to trap Jio into paying them. Now this move from Jio not only puts Jio at harm but TRAI too. TRAI will be under pressure now as they know the charges are gonna be paid by the customers hence once everyone get's to know the whole story, customer's will force TRAI to end IUC charges. They might stick to their deadline of 31st Dec'19. If that happens, everyone comes out of this with happy face except AVOID.
Jio has done more than enough and Jio is a family. I am a part of it so are millions of other customers. In a family if you can't stick together in bad times, Jio is better off letting those customer's go. Jio is still giving great plans and I am very much content in having the services. I myself have converted so many friends/fmaily members to shift to Jio and none of them have complained me about these IUC charges, everyone is more than willing to support Jio here. It's just those ungrateful customers (who no matter how much they threaten to leave Jio , they will still stick to it as 10rs really won't make a diff and they know it) who are giving Jio bad press here.
Because TRAI was supposed to remove IUC charges from 1 January 2020 and it looks like they have reneged from that promise.
@webie seriously? Family? This is a freaking telecom company. Nothing more. And it's not about the extra Rs 10. It's about not keeping a promise. Also, the fact that laws in India are not strong enough to oppose such malpractices. And before anybody goes all defensive, let me just say that this applies to all TSPs out there.
@webie paying Rs 20-30 extra is not the problem, its how jio approached IUC issue by reducing ring time to half, then trying to blackmail TRAI to change rule which suits them better.
And if they are charging extra to call other networks they should also credit us IUC charge they make if we receive calls from other networks.
About network quality experience its not the same for everyone but thats a different issue.
If they are not making profit they should increase tariff for all users.
@webie Definitely, to each her/his own and I respect that. On another note, I did have 512kbps BSNL DSL for like 10 years 😝. I got the taste of fast broadband only like 2 years ago.
Ambani has a Time Machine, he went exactly one year into future and found out TRAI announced zero IUC charges from 2020 in 2017. So he went back to 2016 and announced free voice calls
