Jio is not losing money in giving us those tarrifs, they are still making money. T

A review of Jio’s unaudited results for the last year shows that the wireless venture and its parent relied on a series of accounting decisions that wound up portraying Jio’s financial performance in the best possible light.

Analysts have previously noted some anomalies in Jio’s accounting, like the inclusion of six months of revenues in a three-month reporting period.

Another accounting decision reveals even more. Jio took advantage of a rule that allowed it to burn through bi ..

Jio Hiding Losses Through Subsidy From Retail Arm: Report

Brokerage firm Bernstein estimated that Jio incurred a potential loss of Rs 15000 crore in FY19 but disclosed positive returns based on ‘non-standard’ depreciation metrics.

😆 Some trails of thought exhibited here reveals more than what the words say. Anyway we should not let this civil discussion go to the level of a school campus or Republic TV 'debate' 😑

Let’s be fair guys. They are only charging 6 paise per minute. So a 1 hour call will only cost you Rs. 3.6 whereas Jio still pays Rs. 120 for the same.
How?

Subsequently, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India2Telecommunication Interconnection Usage Charges (Thirteenth Amendment) Regulations, 2017 dated 19.09.2017 [herein after referred to as IUCRegulations, 2017broughtdownwireless to wireless domestic call termination charge to0.06 per minute, effective from1/10/2017 to 31/12/2019

It's fine, some days ago when corp tax was lowered, sensex gained many points too, but they have been coming down gradually. If you day trade this is for you.

So what are you trying to say here that Jio is charging customers exactly what TRAI is charging Jio? Isn't that good and makes Jio's case here.
Interconnection Usage Charges is not a new charge that has been levied by TRAI. It was applicable to all calls even on the day JIO launched their services. Infact, it was a very common phenomenon for telecom operators to advertise on-net and off-net minutes in cellular plans before Jio was launched. Therefore, when they launched unlimited call plans with their commercial launch they would have been confident that plan prices are high enough to cover net IUC charges and other costs + profit

Please note that Reliance was a new operator while Airtel, Vodafone and Idea had an existing user base and therefore I do not think there would have been a doubt in anybody's mind that Reliance will have to pay other operators for for to settle net ICU charges especially when they launched their commercial services with unlimited voice calls while other operators still did not have competing plans for unlimited minutes.

Suddenly, after 3 years of service Jio has reliazed that they made a boo boo and users should pay for IUC charges? Why do you think that would be the case?

Because TRAI was supposed to remove IUC charges from 1 January 2020 and it looks like they have reneged from that promise.

If you look at history this was always the plan of TRAI to gradually reduce IUC charges to zero. In 2012, Airtel and Vodafone were also against IUC charges, but after that, they realized that IUC charges actually help them to stifle competition.

Now how will they sell the Jio phones ? In my opinion people bought it for the cheap ₹49 plan. now it is just a paper weight. I think for Jio phone users they should not force 98, 149 plans they should let Jio phone user to recharge iuc packs alone.

If I remember correctly charging more for calls to numbers of other operators was specifically disallowed by TRAI but those days were different & these days are different. Now the mantra is different. I remember the open & brazen statement in the 80's 'Every man has a price & I am willing to pay it'.
@v1rus maybe they thought the match was fixed.😆

Did you saw the video? Jio has many users/customers but the people who use 2G/3G are giving miss calls to Jio phones, for ex my maid and I don't want her to pay for calls so I call her back always as Jio is free. Now for us , it's good, but for Jio, ofcourse AVOID are taking advantage of Jio. TRAI has always said that IUC charges will be 0 eventually but the date keep on extending and now even extending after 1st Jan'20. Jio launched their services based on that and never thought other operators are that greedy that , they won't think of customers and won't any other business model to lure customers in rather than use IUC charges to trap Jio into paying them. Now this move from Jio not only puts Jio at harm but TRAI too. TRAI will be under pressure now as they know the charges are gonna be paid by the customers hence once everyone get's to know the whole story, customer's will force TRAI to end IUC charges. They might stick to their deadline of 31st Dec'19. If that happens, everyone comes out of this with happy face except AVOID.

Jio has done more than enough and Jio is a family. I am a part of it so are millions of other customers. In a family if you can't stick together in bad times, Jio is better off letting those customer's go. Jio is still giving great plans and I am very much content in having the services. I myself have converted so many friends/fmaily members to shift to Jio and none of them have complained me about these IUC charges, everyone is more than willing to support Jio here. It's just those ungrateful customers (who no matter how much they threaten to leave Jio , they will still stick to it as 10rs really won't make a diff and they know it) who are giving Jio bad press here.
