I changed advance rental plan few months back. They added the prorated balance to the account but did not added 18% GST which was deducted. You can call 121 and ask

@itzmynet nice plans we got here,i just got a call from airtel executive regarding the changes in plans, I had the 699 plans (40mbps).I decided to upgrade my plan to the new 799 ,they said they gonna replace my router ,atm i have this white Huawei router(HG8145V) have you got the new router yet, its the fiber router i guess any details you got about the new airtel router.

@Spyro HG8145V is the latest FTTH heawei modem+router that airtel provides for FTTH, even for 1 GBPS plans. why are they changing the router ? let us knw which router they will change to ..

The copper wire you guys talking about it's cat5e right?

When i put my first upgrade request they didn't mention any charges for router. but after 10 days they closed my request without my permission. so when i called them again they put new request and asked me to pay 900rs for router. ofc I didn't agree with it and talked to their supervisor.
i guess he waived it off bcos upgradation receipt didn't mention any charges.

I had literally the same issue with the plan change, usually Airtel plans take "2 hours" as per the 121 team, but in reality within 20-30 mins the plan is changed over without much issue, billing is pro-rata and pretty fair to users / airtel as well.

When I had requested a change to the new plan, they told me the same 2 hours, 1 odd thing I noticed this time is I did not get any SMS for the change -- usually you get an SMS when the change is approved/added in etc.

Anyways, it was late in the day (10 PM? or 11 PM) so I tried the next day and no change in plan.

So I called again and was told that I have to change the router to support 200 Mbps and have to pay 900 for this, now I'm using a non-airtel provided router and told them I will continue to use that and just change the plan as the Huawei ONT supports upto 1000 Mbps/1Gbps. The person passed on my call to their supervisor, confirmed the Huawei model etc and said OK everything will be done by tomorrow 11 AM

Repeat the above paragraph x 3-4 times across the next 3-4-5 days, got the same assurances, same "We have noted it on the ticket, it will be done, it is approved etc, It is assigned to a different team etc"

Then I gave up and wrote an email to 121@in.airtel.com with everything in it, my Huawei model# and got a call the next day and the plan finally got changed over.

Not sure why Airtel does this always really with their routers/modems and cause confusion,

When vFiber (VDSL) connections were being setup, the first batch of users got a nice Huawei modem which was far more stable than the Binatone ones, the Binatone one needed a reboot so often to stay in working.. maybe I got a bad piece.. every time I complained I got a message saying they'll replace it but Huawei is not available.

When FTTH connections were being setup, a few(?) users got a better Huawei ONT which had WiFi etc inbuilt, later on they provided a non-wifi huawei model, They even provided a D-Link Router which connects to the Huawei ONT which already supports both 2 Ghz and 5 Ghz bands, not sure why they are so keen on changing these so often

Got airtel vfiber disconnected. Exchange speed were limited to 16mbps but when asked for discounted plan airtel was not ready to do so.
Seems like things have changed in a year or maybe they don't fear jio fiber as much.
One thing i noted thru out process not one person talk level was of previous standard Airtel Landline use to be. I think all low level employees for retention also.

Didn't even suggested me a single worthy plan.
All were reminding me how reliable Airtel is and that we don't give low priced plan.
Not needed when i have 4g as backup.

On Excitel fiber for now and loving it.

try sending an email instead to 121@in.airtel.com @igloo -- mention all the details in the email, so far I have had a positive experience with their support via email vs their 121 support, in the past I never had to email them but in my last 2 requests I have had to email them for resolution :/

@droid, My plan just got updated to 100mbps and i'm getting stable speed on the router which i have (HG8145V) ,so when they come tomorrow should i deny them for new router installation.
what router they might be installing you have any idea about it.

@Spyro i don't know which router they'll give and whether it'll be better or not... But as far as i know, most people here who have FTTH is using the Huawei router which you already have....i too wonder why and to which they'll change 🙄🙄

@itzmynet no response from them yet about the router installation.

I wanted to ask something about the Huawei router though,on 2.4ghz setting whilst i am sitting close to the router i am getting max speed of 40mbps and on 5ghz its normal full speed, can you check the max speed you get 2.4ghz and let me know.
