Surely BPL will improve. Its coverage will be good

Now with Hutch taking over BPL certainly BPL will improve but … network coverage have become a big problem…

I just recently met a Hutch sales rep. According to him the formalities for the merger are still in progress. All of them post merger will come under HUTCH-ESSAR group. Till date Hutch & BPL are still acting as competers & try to get business deals independently. Rest assured post merger BPL services are bound to improve.

but will Hutch customers have free roaming in Maharashtra and Goa like MTNL ?

^^^Dont think so, post merger or pre-merger Hutch or any other operator will not leave milking mumbai subscribers....

EU is cool in this area. they are forcing the mobile companies to stop charging roaming fees from consumers traveling in the COUNTRIES in the EU!

AFAIK Hutch has activated free roaming in Maharashtra and Goa . You have to select the BPL network ( please confirm this) in Maharashtra to get free roaming and also incoming free.BTW I think in this regard MTNL is the best. Free roaming in whole India, plus incoming free in maharashtra and also now rent free GPRS on prepaid . Just the right package for college goers...what say??!?

aniket, i talked to their CC. I have to be out of mumbai in this june/july and they told me very clearly if i dont activate roaming ( 49 rental ) then even incoming will not be available to me.

F*&K they are robbing people in daylight. I think TRAI or some authority has made it mandatory that the circles adjoining the metros be treated as local without any extra cost. Airtel and MTNL have started this as soon as TRAI announced it.

Hutch provides free incoming calls & SMS in Maharashtra & Goa without paying roaming rental (Rs.49) on BPL and Idea Network, however u cannot make any outgoing call with this free roaming facility which is available automatically (no activation required). Also if u send 1st sms u would be charged Rs.3.45 and u will receive a message saying ur second outgoing sms will activate National Roaming and Rs.49 will be charged to your prepaid acccount. So if u are looking for only incoming calls & sms, chill out and enjoy free roaming on Hutch (make sure u are on Idea/BPL bec on Airtel incoming is not free)...I have used this free roaming lot of times!Enjoy!

stupid CC. They should get their act together.... Thanks for the info imran 🙂

no probs Max, If you have any more questions about hutch roaming do let me know, if I know the answer I would sure help u with it.Enjoy! 🙂
