BSNL FTTH Installation taking more than week

Well I had taken BSNL FTTH connection on April 2019 with the plan 849.Till now there has not been a single downtime issues that has been affected me.The connection is up and very pretty stable for me getting speeds above 50 Mbps as always. The earlier private ISP has been using will gone down 2 to 3 times in a week be it a cable fault or authentication issues..

I've had one bad experience with the earlier telephone broadband getting disconnected frequently... Esp when raining 😅And rains are heavy here in kerala. Had to call them 3 times before they found and replaced the faulty wire. Rest was all okay i guess.

Don,t go with bsnl thier service is horrible and after your connection if a y problem comes in future they will not fix that in time for them time is 15 days to 30 months if you are repeteadly complaing them else they will simply forget you.i had a bsnl broadband 2 year ago it took around a month for the connection and it worked fine for 4 months but adter that threre was a problem with the line they took 1 month for fixing it and i had to pay that months bill also without using it.and it happened many times after that and finally i got it disconnected and even in disconnection it took 2 months for which also i have to pay the monthly rental.Go with any private isp dude.they may be little costly but thier service will be quick. Now i am using Fox FTTH broadband they did my connection within 2 days and from that time connection is akways stable sometines it went down and on complaining they came same day and fixed it same day.So only go with private local isp near your area.

In my case I only have BSNL FTTH as internet option in my home area. Not a single other ISP is available here so no other option for me 🙂

I have just completed one year with my BSNL FTTH connection and it has mostly been good. There was one fiber cut back in June and my LCO vendor took more than 10 days to repair the connection, but other than that no issues with my connection (touch wood).

I am doubting whether they themselves cut the connection and did not fix it because BSNL not paying them their commission due to financial crunch or something like that 😀

Otherwise pretty happy with experiencing 100 mbps speeds for the first time.

Earlier I was on BSNL ADSL 4 mbps connection which used to disconnect very frequently especially in rainy seasons. I also have Airtel 4G home wifi device (Huawei B310) as backup right now.

Have you got connection directly from bsnl or from lco? If directly from bsnl then can you please give me whole breakdown of price for new bsnl ftth connection? Like what was the security deposit of modem and wifi router, installtion charges, cable charges, monthly rental charges for modem/WiFi and any extra hidden charges etc. Please provide detailed information.

Also tell me that is there any monthly rental charge for modem after paid one time modem security deposit Rs500? Is extra rent Rs90 will need to be paid every month even after deposit one time security Rs500 for modem?

@SG_curiosity Yes, if you are taking the modem on rent, you need to pay the security deposit and pay the rent monthly. The security deposit would be refunded when you return the rented modem. You could purchase a modem/ONT for about 1k or so, so renting may not make much sense.
@varkey Q1. And if i don't buy any modem and WiFi router from bsnl then still i have to pay Rs500 security along with advance plan payment (i.e. 500+777) during connection?

Q2. And if i opt the bsnl modem and choose to pay monthly rental Rs90 along with plan, then suppose if I disconnect the connection after 2 years then will I get any refund for this rental payment because i have paid (Rs90 x 24 months = Rs2160) for modern?

@SG_curiosity

1. If you don't opt for model rental you'd only need to pay the advance rental for the plan. For me I didn't even have to pay anything at the time of application, all advances etc were added in the first bill. This would vary depending on the circle/state etc though.

2. You'd only get the refund of the security deposit. No refund for any rental payments.

Honestly with ONT prices being low, it doesn't make sense to take it on rent. Plus in most cases BSNL may not even have ONTs available for rent.

@varkey Q1. Which is you city/state and when did you get ftth connection?

Q2. Have you got connection directly from bsnl or from lco?

Q3. Can you please give me whole breakdown of price for new bsnl ftth connection? Like what was the security deposit of modem and wifi router, installtion charges, cable charges, monthly rental charges for modem/WiFi and any extra hidden charges etc. Please provide detailed information . And please also share your first bill.

Q4. What is your ONT (Name and model number, specifications like single/dual band ?

Q5. Is Rs 777 plan is now permanent plan or is a 6 months promotional plan?

😑

@SG_curiosity

1. Ernakulam, Kerala
2. LCO
3. Rs 1000 for installation/wiring charged by the LCO. No installation or activation charges or any other charges by BSNL other than the plan's advance rental. ONT Netlink HG323RW Rs 3000 (this was higher than normal but took it to get the connection activated quickly)
4. Netlink hg323rw, 1GE, 1FE, 1FXS/TEL, Wireless N. Although from today I'm using a Huawei HG8010H 😉 - Netlink Bridge Mode without port / mac reset | BSNL FTTH Bharat Fiber Broadband
5. Promo for first 6 months

@varkey Bsnl customer care is sh*t. They disconnect call lot of times and everybody say different things. One executive told me that for new bsnl ftth connection, i have to pay Rs3250 for WiFi modern and Rs500 security deposit. I asked them "what about advance payment of plan" and she told me that there is no advance plan security have to deposit. I will get bill and then i have to pay monthly payment only after one month connection use. They confused me.

Any amount charged by BSNL would always show up on the bill, so you can always dispute them if it varies from the pricing displayed on your circle/state BSNL website. In which city/state are you looking for the connection?

Anyway it all depends on who is providing the last mile connectivity, if its an LCO, then you pay the LCO the charges for the installation/wiring/ONT etc, BSNL is not involved in this. To get the right charges you need to speak to the LCO.

Regarding the plan security deposit, yes even for me it was just Rs 500 even though the plan was Rs 777 when I took the connection. Although later when I changed the plan to Superstar 749, they charged me 249 extra as security deposit. 🤷‍♂️ I'm guessing the BSNL executive is just confused and said there is no separate plan deposit.

So you are saying that during connection, you hadn't paid Rs777 for advance security plan in exchange office. You just paid Rs500 only as a security deposit in bsnl office.

And after one month when you get your first bill, there was only normal monthly charge of plan i.e., Rs777+18% but there was no extra Rs777 charges as advance plan security deposit!

So, Is this Right? You haven't pay any extra Rs777 as advance security plan?

I paid ZERO when I applied for the connection, and security deposit and plan rental was charged in the first bill. Rs 500 + Rs 777 + tax. The Rs 500 was the plan security deposit (not sure why it needed to be only 500 🤷‍♂️)

Anyway whether they charge it in the first bill or when you apply would depend on your circle/bsnl office etc.

@varkey So for advance security deposit, bsnl will either charge flat Rs500 only or our choosen plan like Rs777 only but not both? I am right?
