I am sort of little bit of puzzled as to the hate which Jio Fiber and its plans are receiving here!

Please let me know which other company offers fiber to home at this rates? I would like to compare plans really. And please dont bring shitty cable walas providing LAN connections as an alternative just bcoz they offer "Unlimited"

It is experience which matters in the long run which at least Jio is providing well. A high capacity IPTV platform on fiber, recording tv, landline, video calling, integration of cameras, other stuff etc all on a single wire......which other operator is proving all this???.

Most of the Indians will be happy with 150GB on the lowest tier which is more than enough. A nation in which a single 4G connection/person uses 10-15GB a month cannot used 150GB even if he wants too....& please don't have fantasies of absurd monthly rates with unlimted GB's, nobody is doing charity here.

I get 100 Mbps symmetrical and 1000 GB FUP with BSNL FTTH. I'd take my plan (and my hardware/internet freedom) over these Jio plans any day.

Anyone can start a poll. Just start a new thread 🙄

link-removed TT guys are total sellout, I messaged them regarding Airtel minimum recharge plans long before it became public.

I got reply saying I was an idiot to message them and Airtel is doing nothing wrong. But they did publish an article two months later when there was a widespread public lashout about minimum recharge plans.

I stopped reading their articles, bunch of wussies.

1. yeah probably most Indians would be happy with 150 GB but this is BroadbandForum obviously people would be a tad more enthusiastic about broadband offerings thats why they are here.

2. Many competitors provide decent offerings. My local ISP gives fiber to home unlimited plan no FUP 999/- for 40 Mbps connection. Airtel is giving Rs. 1100 (including GST) 100 Mbps plan unlimited no FUP. Granted its not on fiber but it doesn't matter. Pings on Fiber should be lower than the competition and frankly, Jio Fiber's routing isn't that great. I have used BSNL as well as Jio fiber and the difference isn't that much.

3. Experience is also driven by the amount of high-speed data one can get. As we are in 2019 a 4K or even a decent 1080p content takes up lots of data. Amazon Prime takes up 6-7 GB data per hour. So data matters a lot. And what about the control of the router? No bridge mode or port fowarding?

4. Jio has forgotten the core functionality of a fiber service which is to provide High-speed Data. There is no mention of IPTV anywhere I won't get it as soon as I pay for the plan so why should I count that as a service? In the age of smartphones and WhatsApp do you think video calling service adds any value to your experience? What i needed was a simple triple play connection landline, tv and internet I have zero interest in rest of the offerings/

5. Nobody is asking for a charity, ACT Hathway and many ISPs provide unlimited plans or higher FUP plans do you think they are running a charity?

tbh... most average indian households are probably using mobile internet these days. people with limited usage have no need to pay for two separate internet connections. sure there is a decent sized market where people have basic broadband plans at home for tablets and laptops... but it is very likely that it is the networking enthusiasts who would pay for premium plans on jiofiber. otherwise their arpu would remain pretty low. i think someone mentioned that they are expecting an arpu of around 1200...

Most media are a bekau bunch. Bgr.in comes to mind. I had posted a comment critical of a company they had written about. They deleted the comment.

And they were right. A networking enthusiast forum like this isn't representative of the average Indian household in any way
I don't see many people liking their plan on social media or anywhere on internet except for bunch of paid/fake news.

So, how did you reach conclusion that jio is right ?

This is a damm broadband forum why are you even here if you think <500 gb is enough data, just use 4g.

In AGM they said they would provide internet at 1/10 of global standard just stick to your words, AGM was just a month ago.

I was searching for opinion of popular youtubers they all are avoiding making video on this 🤣 🤣 , there are only few videos with genuine opinion how shady jio is acting.

If jio would have released cheap plans there would be 100s of videos praising jio now but now after all hype youtubers want to avoid saying negative about jio.

Yes because there is a cost per Gb of data. This varies for domestic vs. International bandwidth in some cases. It is not a lot, maybe only a few Rs per Gb but if they make it unlimited then how will they make more money? They can price it by speed or by the amount of data. That's why they have different tiers so that they can charge more for more data. If they said unlimited no fup for 100 Mbps at 800 then not many people would pay more for higher speeds. So they want to control the data amount as well.

I am opting for BSNL Fiber. They are providing 600 GB Data at 50 Mbps at 849 and after FUP speed is 2 Mbps. Had Jio provided at least 4 Mbps speed after FUP I would have gone to them. BSNL has annual payment option too where one get 12 Months of service by paying 10 Months charge. If BSNL Fiber is available in your area chose them over Jio. 50 Mbps speed is sufficient for 99% users.
Buddy that offer isn't like that you would have to pay for 12 months straight up and they will give you the credit for two months In the next billing that's next year you may get two months free.. You will still have to pay upfront the whole amount plus gst for the current year.😁😁
Bsnl babus are clever too

companies like excitel has shown that you really do not need to pay for each GB of usage. partner with the most popular services, get direct peering with them. data on these services becomes cheap. majority of market would stick to youtube, Hotstar, prime, netflix when it comes to heavy usage. you can basically bring your cost down for what 90% of the actual bandwidth usage... sure there is always going to be a small segment of the market who would be using VPNs so bypassing the local peered servers... you have FUP on your plans specifically for these users.
