My local guy says they have no clue when Jio will start paid plans. They haven't received any intimation as of now.

Today is a holiday anyway, I didn't expect much.

A staggering amount of incompetence though. Release shitty plans and then keep the customers in the dark about migration. Lol
If they tell us their timeline atleast we could plan our move to ISPs with better plans. Changing Home Broadband isn't as simple as porting out of a sim.

I say wait for few months before making any decision. In the meantime negotiate with your lco and get price reduced or speed increase.

Same here they act very cagey. Maybe they are under pressure to try retain as many ppl as possible to shift to the paid plans. Poor guys are just trying to delay the inevitable.

Loll..Dummy plans 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 A telecom operator as big as Jio has put dummy plans on its website..Why would they do this this!! they have already got negative comments for bringing such shitt plans and if they update it in just a fortnight then it would look really cheap stuff from them..Well let's see...

He is making things up. Why would Jio put up dumny plans and lose customers? All they will do (at best) is provide some welcome discount or extra data for Dusshera, Diwali etc.

We got an SMS just now that plan expires tomorrow blah blah. Have to see whether they charge when we use recharge option. Has anyone done this for free after 5 September?

Here's my guess for what Reliance will do. They're going to ask you take up annual plans which will double the data offered (making it 400 GB per month for the 849/mo plan) and tie up with some bank to offer EMIs to those who want to pay monthly. Will it work? I doubt it because the competition isn't pulling that crap and even the annual plans are barely competitive. Reliance really seems to want to go debt free, so I think they're going to push annual plans pretty hard.

Why are they being so stingy with data? That doesn't really make sense. Most of that data is probably going to the likes of Netflix, Youtube, etc. who will very willingly peer with all ISPs. And torrents can be cached, so they shouldn't take up too much upstream bandwidth either. Perhaps this really is an incompetent launch.

The problem with annual plans as that if JioFiber goes down the same route as Jio 4G route, we would be truly fucked. No way anyone in their right mind should opt for their annual plans.

I have done 2 100gb and 2 40 gb recharge since then for free.

During my evening walk today, I noticed Jio wiring in each and every corner of my colony. Of course one thing I will appreciate that this is one of the most neat wiring done compared to Airtel/ACT/Tachyon here. They have installed their own poles at many places. The rest of the ISPs have done the wiring as usual with wires hanging here and there like a spider web. ACT has done wiring on main roads only and are extending their wires in inside/narrow streets or bylanes on demand like it was my case.

Later, I went on my two wheeler for some vegetable shopping and was surprised to see Jio wiring even reaching lower income colonies like EWS colonies or Janta blocks of my areas where only BSNL has presence, so they are targeting customers from all income groups. With this heavy investment in infrastructure, their first target should have been as many customers as possible even by hook or crook, but these plans are really repulsive.

I am not a Jio snowflake, but with plans matching other ISPs except Airtel or local ISPs, they would have simply taken broadband market by storm.
