I don't think there will be any revision. People still want Jio connection because there are still many tier 2/3 cities where the plans are okayish

I m sure Jio will Revise these Plans Soon
After getting negative Response and not getting as many new connections as they thought.

Jio Fiber,s Main competitors are Airtel and BSNL

Hello guyz.For a user like me who does not have a smart TV,I think JioFiber plan works well for me.In all the plans,I get a jio 4k set top box free and so I dont need to spend 4000 rs extra on Amazon fire tv stick or airtel xstream.Correct me if I am wrong?

If it's not a smart TV then most probably it's not a 4K TV. The question here is whether you have other options or not. If you can get cheaper plans than Jio without data caps or better data caps then you should opt for that. If not, then Jio is your choice.

Why are you focusing on the 4K STB? You don't even need 4K Amazon Firestick, get normal one during the sale for Rs. 2800. Think of it as an expense you would have done for getting a Jio connection.

So it all depends who can give you cheaper, better plans.

Eh if it was well thought out strategy then we would be already on one plan or the other.

By offering such low data caps on their fiber plans, aren't they effectively in competition with themselves now? one can get 3GB data per day for 28 days at Rs. 299. Why would anyone pay Rs. 825 every month + security deposit for 100 GB data?
I am not defending them. I have been disappointed in the way they released the plans. It is really unprofessional. They should have clearly explained when people need to recharge and should have released the plans with ample time. Even now, there is no way to choose a plan. Also the plans are not that good. The only well thought of strategy I meant was regarding pricing.
On your second point, I have already explained that they need to increase the prices of mobile Internet and decrease the amount of data. Then only will people see value in proper home broadband. A small amount of people stream HD or 4k on large screens. Most others are making do with mobile broadband as either they are too cheap or they don't see any value in paying for it or they actually can't afford to pay.

I can get a 100 mbps connection from other ISP at 833 rs /month including gst with no FUP.So,now I have to buy a fire tv stick which if I can get from sale at 2800 rs.So,for 1 year I pay 10000 Rs(833X12) for 100 mbps connection and 2800 Rs for firestick(Rs 233/month) which is equal to 1066Rs/month.Also,stick is not 4k so if I get 4k tv in future then I need to buy 4k variant agaib.

In Jio I get in 825 rs/month plan I can get 4k STB+gaming.Even if you add Rs 1000 charge which is non-refundable I get all these in 908 Rs/month.

I would blindly say that Jio STB will be offering more features than any other Android STB out there in the market.Period.

@rameshbritto
If you get a 4K variant TV why would you buy firestick again? Won't your new TV be already a smart TV? Let's say you buy the new OnePlus TV it's already an Android TV

Gaming? There is literally zero information about the gaming.

in 825 plan you are getting 100GB data cap + 50 GB every month as an welcome offer.

How do you plan to watch 4K content or even 1080p content in this ridiculous data cap?

you are focusing on the free STB too much when it literally provides zero value to you right now and even in the future.

@rameshbritto Please clearly tell current setup (TV+Box etc) and what set up you are looking for...... and your budget
Unless you clearly tell your requirements you might be comparing a Horse with a Donkey......

@rameshbritto
1. STB or Router both are not free you have to pay for it one way or other. Actually thats part of problem why their plans are so expensive.
2. You are only renting jio STB till you are a jio fiber subscriber whereas if you buy a firestick or android box you own it.
3. You can carry your firestick anywhere you want its not locked to any service. Also there is no clarity about side-loading apps or if it will work with other internet like Airtel Xstream box.
4. Though there is no clarity right now but cost of repairing stb will be not cheap. We don't know anything about their quality of their stb.
5. MOST IMPORTANT POINT WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO WATCH WITH 100-150 Gb FUP WITH 4K CONTENT IT WILL NOT EVEN LAST A WEEK. WITH 1080 HD MAY BE 10-15 DAYS IF YOU USE IT MODERATELY.

@Lobogris "they should reduce mobile fup" really? come on. Both mobile and broadband serves completely different purpose. You should question why the fuck their broadband data plans are more expensive with less FUP than mobile. (May be because with shitty 4g speed everyone cannot consume their full data like me which subsidizes it for others.)

If they reduce mobile data plans then mobile users would reduce their content resolution not buy broadband for it.

What's the point of having a 4K set top box containing OTT Apps when your 100GB data will be exhausted in less than half a month! I think he is too much obsessed with the 4k STB. If that is the case he should rather buy an Amazon TV Stick. The STB is the property of Jio not his.

@Sushubh Can we please have couple of surveys to get these stats..?
1. How many had surrendered their ISP and took the JioFiber connection?
2. How many still hold their old ISP along with the JioFiber?
3. How many are planning to surrender JioFiber?
4. How many are hoping for rate cut and/or FUP from JioFiber increases in the coming days?
🙂

No one will surrender their connections yet. It's almost free. I will hold on to the day Jio starts charging for it. If they revise the plans to something acceptable then well and good, if they keep the original plans then I will shift to other ISP (most probably Airtel)
