Is BSNL using CGNAT at your location? Luckily, in my place, no CGNAT. Before I was using BSNL ADSL Broadband and BSNL was using CGNAT. So, I was unable to access my router remotely was WAN IP was different from public IP. Now, with Bharat Fibre, remote access is working perfectly as there is no CGNAT.

Yeah same here, no CGNAT, I get public facing IP on my BSNL FTTH connection too. I think nationwide it is like that only. Not sure for how long it will last though.
Personally I think it's better for ISPs to do CGNAT as vast number of users are not tech savvy and their ONUs are public facing with default admin login credentials and also malware/botnet attacks are mitigated.
They should provide external public facing/static IP on request only, whether it is charged or free.

It's good for ISP coz it save them IPv4 addresses which are running short now. But for the user, it is a hindrance. You cannot run your home server, CCTV Cameras, remote access of router and ftp access. I really hate CGNAT. I am a father and sometimes I need to block my kids access. I cannot do that remotely with CGNAT as I won't be able to access my router.
@thadougamer you should setup a VPN to access your home network remotely instead of opening ports for cctv/iot devices. This is a much more secure option.

I use Zerotier and I honestly don't care if it's CGNAT or whatever. Everything just works and I can access any device as if I am part of the same network, wherever I am.

Say you have a remote VPN server, hosted on on a cloud VM. Your device at home could connect to the VPN server and similarly you could connect to the VPN from your other non local devices.
PS: Zerotier is awesomer!
