Poor Netflix performance on BSNL Bharat Fiber Broadband

Ya maybe, but as soon as i switched to my local isp no more of downscaling by prime. 1080p all the way on same 50Mbps plan.

@anubhav11 have u checked pings to primevideo ? Mine pings are under 33 ms which is good ..

Primevideo.com and its cache server are same? Still pinging to primevideo.com is around 18ms on my local isp and 65ms on bsnl ftth.

@anubhav11 I think so .. Most of the Amazon services are hosted within the isps network ,even also with bsnl . I think maybe due to some increased traffic its routing outside bsnl network. Hence u are facing the issue. Pls check during some non congestion hours . By the way whats ur mtu value is it in the range of 1454 , if not please change it in router settings and try again.

First, don't get too excited. Many of these LCOs will try to trick you.

Ask them directly, if you're allowed to use your own GPON ONT. If they will lie to you about incompatible OLT. Ask them the brand of their OLTs. If they are using Syrotech OLT, it is 100% compatible with TP-Link ONT because both BSNL exchange and LCO in Meghalaya are using Syrotech OLTs and they are working fine with my TP-Link ONT.

I suggest you buy the TP-Link OLT I'm using due to manufacturing quality reasons + stable firmware. Simply put it in bridge mode then use your own router. You can buy whatever router you want with bridge mode.

Edit:
If you want simple ONT: Buy this: TX-6610 | 1-Port Gigabit GPON Terminal | TP-Link Service Provider
Don't worry about sensitivity, this is Optical Module C+, it's perfect for India's weak Fibre Optics signal.

Hello @Dark_Nate, thank you for details. BSNL FTTH is my ISP. I have here "ONU Net Link" provided by the LCO, I just wanted to change the ONU because this ONU Net link router does not support Wireless distribution system(WDS). So Planned to use "TP LINK TX-6610" as a terminal and use my old router "Tenda D303" for wifi purpose which has WDS so that in future if I want to expand the wireless range I can add another router wirelessly.
However, I have one concern over my planned setup, Currently i have a VoIP telephone line using the same FTTH connection connected to the Netlink ONU. If I use the Bridge mode and use my Tenda D303 as router then can i connect my telephone in RJ11 of my Tenda router and use as normally or should I take any additional care for this?

Thank you, this forum is awesome and I learnt lot out of it from the conversation.

@ananthmsakthi68 You can put the ONU in bridge and still use the ONU for your telephone line as internet and VOICE/voip configurations are different. I use it that way. It's working absolutely fine.

Thank you @thadougamer. So you are suggesting to use the telephone line in the ONU if it is connected to another router via Bridge mode, that makes sense to me if the ONT has a RJ 11 or RJ 45 port for the connection. However, I am planning to buy this ONT device TP link ONT this device doesn't have any RJ11 or RJ45 port for the telephone connection. So my doubt is, even though the ONT doesn;t have any port for telephone line can i still use the telephone on the bridge connected secondary router that is Tenda D303.

Can you suggest.

Hello @thadougamer i need some suggestion on buying the new router for the BSNL FTTH since the stock Net Link Router doesn't even transmit the wifi for the ground floor. What do you think about the router
"TP-Link’s N300 Wireless GPON router" will this serve better VoIP and the wifi range better.

Hello everyone I am using bsnl ftth connection through Netlink hg323rgw device. I dont like netlink hg323rgw which is only a single band, so I purchased TP-Link Archer xr500v model. But I am not getting internet, i configured all settings but no use, so does anyone using tp link archer xr500v for bsnl ftth? Does this model support bsnl ftth? Please anyone answer me.
It's says GPON in its page most lco use EPON olt.. If the ont is epon supported then it would be fine.
Need to check the epon compatibility of the tplink xr500v. How much did it cost for the router?

If you issue is with the range of the wifi, you could use a wifi extender which is cheaper. Or purchase a high power router from Tplink. Or if you have unused routers, you could use them as a wifi extender.
