Hi ! I recieved a threatening mail from an Internet Address 202.177.169.36which I traced to be sent from202-177-169-36.sify.netCan anybody tell me the way if I can trace this sender's information by any means

File a complaint with the police. Then the police will ask Sify to share its logs (if they are there). ISPs share their logs with official investigating agencies only.

try sygate firewall.
it will give u complete details of that ip.[/b]

ry Getip it will give the name of the Admin of that particular system[/b]

It will give u descriptions of isp and not the user himself 😛 . You wont come to know who mailed until sify guys tells u (logs) sify doesnt gives dedicated ip's . you can still go to http://geobytes.com/iplocator.htm to get some more crappy info .. Btw is that mail too threatining for a police complaint

sify user threatening another user 😱 hey who ever threatened u if he is reading plzz threaten sify also 😛 By the way what was there in that email share with us dude

yeah, by doing so u'll get to know better ways to deal with the problem 🙂

dudes why don't u understandthat sify allocates ips dynamicallyso until we get sify's logs we can't know who actually sent it

assuming he is a home user ....what if it was done thru a sify broadband cafe...fat chance then dude 😛 ...go home and sleep and change email address...best way out

yeah if it was a cafe, the owner gets caught anyways so that guy may go scott free even if you complain. Its kinda difficult to trace....most cafe's also doesn't have logs, addresses of the users, they need to maintain them otherwise the owners get caught.

Well, I think most Sify BBand cafes require their users to have accounts/membership (just like webworld). At least they do in mumbai, so that might hlp to track down offenders.

Don't you guys read newspapers? The police has caught enough harassers, intimidators and terrorists who did their misdeeds from cybercafes. Not a problem if the issue is serious enough and the police acts on it.
