We are renovating a penthouse with an area of 4000sqft. The contractor is including Cat6 wiring in his contract. I have identified 7 locations for CCTV and 4 locations for Ethernet port throughout the house. i was thinking to have the following network setup.

I would be really grateful if you guys could suggest the equipment suitable for this setup. I was thinking a DIY setup for CCTV with zoneminder(or similar free CCTV software, do suggest) running on raspberry pi instead of a dedicated NVR but what do you think. Also i would need to power the cameras with a PoE switch. Although i did see some PoE injectors on Amazon.

I would also appreciate if you guys could point me in the right direction on where to buy this equipment at a good discount. I live in Delhi/NCR.
Would be great to read your views on how else this setup can be done.

Hi. Could you let me know the location? I'm myself looking for awesome Pent Houses.

1. EdgeRouter-X or equivalent.
2. Use ASUS AC68U or Higher for the WiFi / UBNT AP Units for the Roof
3. UBNT Camera and it's Equipments for the Camera (best in class and have inbuilt OS).
4. Have at-least two ethernet ports instead of one per room. So that you can use one for the TV or Device directly and one for the Switch (For the Room itself).
5. Use UBNT's Switch. Not Netgear / Cisco / TP-Link.
6. I am unsure if the UBNT has inbuilt Storage but if not, buy the NAS Hard Disk on Sale from Amazon.

I know the UBNT's Distributors through out India. Let me know.

For CCTV setup Lajpat Rai Market, Opp. Red Fort is a place where you can get good bargain. There are many shops with all leading brands as well as local.

My budget for ip camera is max 3k per piece and i am unsure if UBNT cameras would fit my budget. I would like to know any distributors in Gurgaon or Delhi.

Did the DIY setup for CCTV with zoneminder work out for you.

I am looking for a CCTV setup for a house under construction spread across 4 floors......

My house is still in the renovation phase. It will take 2 more months to complete. So i will test the setup with Zoneminder/Shinobi after 2 months.

so you have laid CAT 6 cable and would setup network later after completion of civil work.

I guess all below CP Plus camera's would be compatible.

@ijsa If you are going to run your ethernet cable along side your electrical wiring make sure you get Shielded twisted pair. Otherwise make sure you cross the electrical wire perpendicular to your ethernet cable where ever necessary. Interference is a bitch.
