Probably because it is in bridged mode. The worst part is, I tried resetting the device several times and each time the result is the same. It looks like Airtel technicians have configured it to be in bridged mode by default. Is there any way to get to the router's config page. I've heard many routers have a "safe mode" but I wan't able to find much about this specific model. Any help is appreciated.

You'll need to create a virtual interface with an IP address in the same subnet as that of the device's management interface.

It is probably in bridge mode and the firmware is locked into that particular state. If you need to access the router's web admin access page set your PC/laptop to 192.168.1.254, sub-net 255.255.255.0 and use your browser to navigate to the page.

Also remember I had this experience where the Admin user name password at the bottom of the router was only a user with no admin rights. These guys, at least the Tata Sky idiots secretly flashed the router with a custom firmware from Nokia which disables the admin profile and creates a new one in its place. You cannot make any changes to the router without the 'new' admin level login ID and password.

I can imagine Airtel does the same because these units are only sold to ISPs and never via retail channels. So they receive no support from Nokia/Alcatel Lucent including no firmware updates.

Plus the customer cannot screw it up if there's no access! 😀 😉 Reduces the support calls too. Hehe

I requested this device from Airtel as well. The webui did not accept any common username/passwords. Airtel backend also were not able to help with the credentials. Eventually returned it back to Airtel since I did not want to run a device for which I had no credentials.
