Two issues I have been facing:

1. I have been noticing for past 2 days that during the evening for 2-3 hours, Jio gigafiber speeds drop to 8-10 Mbps, but after some time it restores to full speeds.

2. the difference between speeds through 5Ghz and 2.4 Ghz is very huge. In 5Ghz I get full speeds but in 2.4 Ghz its very random sometimes its 10 Mbps, sometimes 50 Mbps but it never crosses more than 50

Is anyone else having this issue?

Edit: I have to revise point number 1. The issue is now that when I try to do a speed test with my MacBook Air it shows 8 Mbps but when I do the speed test on my phone it is showing full speed i.e 95 Mbps + both are connected to the same 5Ghz network and the tests are done one after the other.

Edit 2: I think I found a solution to the revised point number 1 issue. This all started when I switched the order of preference of joining wifi networks on my MacBook Air. I had moved 5 GHz band over 2.4 GHz band, preferring 5 GHz and the speed fell. Now I have switched it back i.e. 2.4 GHz will get preference, it is back to full speeds on 5 GHz band. WEIRD.

Edit 3: Back to facing the same issue.
5Ghz network on laptop 8 Mbps on speedtest
5Ghz netwrok on mobile 95+ Mbps on speedtest. I have noticed it is more prevalent during evenings and night time.

@Shubham Getting sometimes 10 mbps or 50 mbps on 2.4 Ghz is not an issue, its a fact....In real world scenario it cant handle more that 50 mbps data.....2.4 Ghz gets lots of interferences....

I would like to get a more consistent speed from 2.4 Ghz band. Any suggestions? Or should I contact Jio customer care? I just want to make sure that my complaint isn't frivolous.

Even I noticed that speeds has gone down by 10-15 Mbps on LAN connection in Hyderabad.

this laptop thing is very weird.

Setting the 2.4 GHz channel width to 40 MHz might increase the max speed, though I don't know if the option's present in the Jio router

What about connection via LAN ?

Thanks @Shubham for the inputs. I am seeing that the speeds are capped to 75 Mbps as it doesnt cross that limit on LAN connections. Same doesnt apply on Mobile 5 Ghz connections and from yesterday onwards speedtest.com is selecting auto selecting Bangalore servers where as it was Chennai servers till now.

I have the same preference mode on my iMac running Mojave and i never had any issues. I always connect to 5Ghz and speeds range b/w 95-110Mbps on downloads. On 2.4Ghz the speeds range between 75-50Mbps depending upon the proximity range.

Is there any way to disable just the 2.4 GHz band on Jio ONT and use Mi 3C router instead? I have a theory that a dedicated router would provide better speeds.

5GHz should remain unaffected though.
