New Broadband Suggestion

Hi Guys

I am situated in East Delhi and will be needing a new broadband service and would love your suggestions here !

Currently, I am using WEBCITY broadband (old copper wire connection), 50 mbps (gives me 10-30mbps) plan which works out fine if i need to send out mails and download movies and stuff. BUT i have so much problem while gaming! My connection lag every now and then and i do end up losing many games (basically my team suffers because of me!). I assume its because of data packet loss ..? ..?
The customer care is not that bad.. Even if i have problems very frequently they do get resolved within a couple of hours (until there's a wire cutoff or something major).

SO, I was about to get Hathway, did fill up the forms and stuff but then stumbled upon many many complaints online (mostly in Bangalore). I also see problems with EXCITEL.

What do you guys think should be my best option for a smoother gaming experience (basically less packet losses?) for Delhi (East)??
Also, since i plan to get a fibernet now (ofcourse), i will need a new modem? Please suggest one based on your experiences!

Thank You !

Airtel Broadband > ACT > Any other (Excitel / Hathway / MTNL)

Better go with Airtel if you have that available. You will get 70-80ms ping on Airtel to Singapore Ubisoft Servers.

Airtel doesn't have Packet Loss. Excitel has a lot of Packet Losses. If you play R6, Your aim will be useless with these Packet Losses.

You can read this thread to know more about Excitel's Quality Service: Excitel Broadband Review: Worst Internet Service Provider (With Screenshots) | Excitel Broadband

Airtel plans seem a bit harsh. 800 without taxes for 105 GB data? There are no unlimited plans till i pay 2000 per month.
Excitel is not an option then.

How about Hathway? any exprience with hathway in delhi??

I will check out ACT and i also asked WEBCITY (my current isp) for a fiber connection. They 're charging 1000 bucks with the modem for a fiber cable and 500 per month unlimited plan. but i don't think that will be stable either.

Will look for more options for now, i guess.

Thanks ajgamer =D

1. You can talk to Airtel Customer care for the new connection with the additional data consumption offers. Later on you can ask them to disconnect the connection if they don't extend the validity of the extra-consumption. Not to mention that, Airtel is soon coming with Unlimited Plans (Insider Information).

2. If Airtel is not an option? ACT should be the next option.

3. Hathway has routing issues. It will be useless for you if you're in gaming. Since, Hathway is facing high ping and low bandwidth (Speed) issue from last 1 year Pan India. (I know people from Mumbai and Delhi facing the exact same issue).

4. Don't go with the LCO for my. Only have your LCO once you are sure about Airtel and ACT are not for you.

I am in East Delhi.... Have tried many ISP's

Other than Airtel.... first check the reliability of LCO before committing as well as experience in your neighborhood about the ISP.

I am on Triple play..... I do not use it for gaming..... but am not suffering from any packet loss....

When I was on Excitel.... I had rarely faced any packet loss...

If you are going to have a single broadband connection for streaming as well as gaming.... better go for an unlimited plan...... and luckily there many ISP's in East Delhi.... I have atleast 10 at my door step.

@ajgamer Thanks for insider info 😛 well, i will hit the customer care for airtel and will try to talk to them into giving me a unlimited plan. Will also find out about ACT, next.

@ijsa oh great. someone from east delhi ! So, triple play is working out for you?? How many times do you have to contact customercare? Also, are you sure about no packet losses? (because i didnt know about mine till i was playing my online arena battles and rarely used video chat). and yes, definitely getting an unlimited plan.
Thanks ^^

Remember this: Airtel > ACT > Any other.

Good Luck.

When dealing with ISP's who are not directly servicing the customer or through LCO..... LCO is of primary concern...... as all your small/ immediate issues are handled by LCO......... you will save lot of time if you directly approach LCO....... Yes once or twice I have faced issue in which ISP was directly the cause/ at fault....... they were rerouting their fiber network..... which took around 8-9 days.... other than small issues i.e. fiber cutting etc. occur once in a month or two........ or server/ router reset etc....

I do not play games..... neither have a gaming computer but do let me know if you need to know any of my network stats? My primary use is streaming content to TVs, Banking, social networking on various devices......

I settled with Triple Play after checking many ISP's including Excitel around 15 months..... and have been on Triple Play for more than a year now.....

I would not recommend any plan with FUP.........

So, unfortunately , Airtel - ACT - Triple play are just not yet available in my area !! I had to settle with Excitel, which, shows up as 'Extreme Arena Private limited'. Now i am not sure if thats actually excitel (since tripleplay is not in my area, how come excitel is?) because the form i signed up does not mention this name anywhere on it. It only mentions 'Excitel broadband private limited' .

In any case, i have relocated my modem to be right close to my PC desk and using it with LAN which is definitely better than what i was using.
And i did find out that the fiber cables are probably going to get installed in the next two months in our area and hopefully, then i will have all the better options !
Till then, i will make my lemonade with the lemons i got. xD

Cheers~

Extreme Arena is Excitel. Excitel does something fishy where they register multiple companies and then assign the IPS to them. Maybe it's their way of doing ISP business since type 3 license for ISP in India is cheap.

They have other names too such as Piyush, Global, Ava Professional Consultancy.

Get other ISP as soon as you get the option.

Yes, thats definitely it. Funny thing is, their support called me to confirm my installation and i told them about my server being 'Extreme arena' and not excitel broadband. The support didnt know about extreme arena, even after asking around and calling me back only to file a complaint for my problem. How do they not know about their own company/server (sub-company?)!

@ANIsetra Level 1 support of such small ISPs have a scripted one-two page document to answer the questions. Anything outside this, they simply don't know.

Think of, BPO mainly. They are given out 1-2 page script which they keep on speaking.

So basically, L1 (normal customer support) is shit.

That's the reason, Airtel is superior. Their L1 support is very much staffed and they rely a lot on the Ground Team. And, I have some what same feeling from Jio too.

If your L1 support is good, your overall customer satisfaction would be good too.

Yeap. I have experienced this so much with so many companies!

Support can easily turn a good product company into a shitty one as its part of the experience coming with the product.

Anyway, Thanks for all the suggestions. ^^
