How does cashback work on BSNL Broadband FTTH Annual Plan?

I had applied for annual plan for 1277 plan.
On BSNL website it shows 12770 as annual charges but when bill came they have charged full amount of 1277*12=15324 + taxes

Is this how this offer works or they have charged the incorrect amount?

Same issue with me @Rajneesh Rana 🙁 I have registered a complaint and tweeted, hope they correct it. This is false advertising.

And they resolved my complaint without any details! I don't see any change in the outstanding amount either. Tweeted again to BSNL Kerala.

This is false advertising, and cheating. If they are going to bill for 12 months, the 25% cashback offer is nothing great. The previous option of an upfront discount of 2 months rental is way better. We'd also save the GST as the cash back is on the pre tax amount.

Previous offer Rs 777 x 10 = Rs 7770 + tax = Rs 9168
New offer Rs 777 x 12 = Rs 9384 + tax - 25 % cashback on the pre tax amount ie Rs 11073 - 2376 = Rs 8727

The only extra discount (on opting for the cashback scheme) is Rs 441, but an upfront discount is any day better than a cashback as the cash back can only be used for BSNL services.

I've told them, either bill me for 10 months and give the cash back else put me back to monthly billing. They are advertising this as some super offer when actually its the same offer modified to be more beneficial for them.

I have registered a grievance on PG Portal for misleading advertisements. BSNL has all the right to structure the offers and promotions however they please, but misleading customers by showing one promotional offer and when you actually opt for the said promotion, offering something else isn't acceptable.

same case as mine i also got bill of 11931₹ for 777 annual plan

So they responded to the BSNL grievance that I registered yesterday. I responded saying this is misleading customers and I'd like the plan changed to monthly billing.

Sir,
W.r.t. your complaint Docket No. KRL/CO/2019/7757,
the report from the Accounts wing furnished below.
contacted party but no reply. Annual bill(777X12)Rs 9324+tax on payment
cash back offer 25%(2331)will be credited &will be adjusted in future bills.

It says it will be "credited" and adjusted in future bills? Meaning you wont get your money back? They will just charge monthly anyway?

Well, I never paid this inflated bill. It was generated only on 6th or so. So I should be good, I'll get the plan changed to monthly and pay only the adjusted amount.

They are referring to those who do pay the bill, the cashback would be credited to the account and can be used for subsequent bills or services from BSNL (mostly after the one year period is over)

but if you already paid for 12 months, why would you get bill the next month? 🤕

Well, they can now add up any VAS and then debit from the account credit. 😂😂

But yeah for a regular broadband user, the cash back amount can be used only after the one year is over, it would just remain as account credit. Also regarding the bill, if there is any account level activity a bill gets generated even if it's annual plan. So I'm guessing a cashback credit would constitute that and trigger a bill.

For me, I was OK with the cashback policy and was aware of that too. Only issue is them having a separate annual pricing for those who opt for the cashback scheme. 😑😑
