@igloo will connecting via pppoe allow me to access the ONU? I couldn't find any documentation for it. Some very obscure Chinese sites. Nothing on the manufacturer site too.

@opomiyulen south Delhi. For some reason, I am sandwiched between two colonies which have fiber but somehow not available in my area. 😐

@deezcnuts to access onu u have to manually give ip to ethernet of ur laptop. For ex 192.168.1.2 as ip of ur laptop and default gateway as 192.168 1.1 if this is ip adress mentioned at bottom of onu.

@apurvgupta1 my very early 1 day observations
Speeds are very consistent, always above 95 down and up. Ping tests also stable (from testmy.net). My speedtest hourly records also show consistent speeds (done by my pi 24x7 and uploaded to my gdrive)
Earlier, on ethernet, speeds and ping were very inconsistent, all over the place.

Another advantage over ethernet is, if you have a ups for your EPON and router, you can still use internet if there is no power in your area. The installing guy told me that ethernet distributor boxes which are near homes take power from nearby. Fiber comes directly from server and it has power backup there.

My experience with Excitel Fiber has been the best out of all the broadband connections i have used(Hathway, JioFiber, GTPL). Their Customer support does need improvement (but the same goes for others as well). I consistently get 100/100 Mbps and around 20 s latency. They provide dual band ONT and their long term plans are the cheapest in the Fiber market. I have faced disruptions only thrice in the last one year and they solved it within hours. In the end, it all depends on your location.

It all depends on your LCO, so check who is the LCO for your location and also with any friends or neighbours if they are using excitel !!
Reason being, I used excitel for 2 months upon a suggestion from my friend that it is very good but the experience was pathetic, Not at all consistent speeds and their customer care argues that there will be a drop of 20-25% which means for a 100Mbps connection you will only get 75-80Mbps ! During peak hours this is the standard and during non peak hours it touches around 92 Mbps. (Note that even 75-80 are not consitent)

Particularly for excitel the LCO is the business provider than the customer so they prefer LCO over customer and even close tickets by just stating that "they spoke to LCO and issue is resolved" Doesn't even have basic sense to call customer and inquire what exactly the issue is !! Attaching such comment for your reference.

Note that LCO in my area is worst so I have gone through so much, So please check thoroughly before opting for any "Long Term" plans with Excitel !! Depends on how good your LCO is !! Else take 1M plan test it and if its good support from then and the good speeds then opt for long term plans.

Also expect nothing from Excitel Customer care point as they just mediate the messages but nothing can be done from their end. I've visited the main branch to get the issue sorted.

Unlike all the negative reviews i saw about excitel, my experience with them is good. I took the lco's number at the time of installation which was on June 15, 2020 to avoid dealing with the horrible chat support on the excitel app. A few days ago, my ont malfunctioned causing it to become disconnect from the internet every few hours. I contacted the number lco gave me and he came within a few hours, said he would like to change the ont and replaced the ont the next day. Overall, I can say the response time/customer support is as good as my previous local broadband connection.

Also, excitel is new to my area. They came into business in the Q4 of 2019. Said they were only providing FTTH in my town.

@imgagan Rajendra Place, Central Delhi. LCO here is really helpful. Get acquainted with the LCO in your area because he is the one who will provide the service on ground.

@mate but few lcos are idiot and don't cooperate. Mine one is an as***. Will try to shift once my package expires. Although i am his customer since 4.5 yrs but he don't care and do things his own way. On lan it was good but on fiber i faced few issues and idiot didn't cooperate at all
