You can try this - go for a night unlimited scheme and get a dialup modem with a small connection and use it sparingly ... you may find it worthwhile. But you will still be getting 2-3KBps ... so at any rate we r luckier than those stuck with dialup 😕 as I myself was a few months back. Well just hope things change for the better.

seriously, sify can't compare their rates to what dialup users pay. and i am not someone to get happy just because i pay a lot less than a regular dialup user. reason being i never was a dialup user. touchtel was my first net connection.

awwwe.. come on.. you don't seriously expect that sify would have lowered speeds just for him.. i don't thinks so... hey sush you've mentioned that the one person who always came to help you got fired.. are you talking about ashok?

i said that? i think i said that the only guy who actually managed to help me got fired. but weirdly, ashok is now back. and i was told from 2 different people that he was fired.guess, they cant find a good enough replacement.

and he is the one who suffer all my wrath. 😛

🙁 yeah i know..anyway, there is going to be a lot of competition for sify in the coming months, and if they don't smarten up their act soon then they are going to loose all their customers.. oh for a service that would give me 500 kb/sec at rs 1500 unlimited... 🙄 one can dream can't he p.s. hey you finally decided to download fedora.. 😛

u know, i bet like our own maruti, it wont take them a second thought to increase the speed 5 times at the same prices, coz they have everything but are just milking people while they can. so they wont lose the customers anyways. it happened when they dropped the prices to half just like that.as for fedora, i am just downloading it to check speeds. coz they had an excuse that the files i must be downloading would be from choked servers. linux is mirrored on so many servers that you won't be getting choked downloads. so if linux is downloaded (from 15 different servers concurrently) at 3KBps, the speed IS 3KBps.though, i would want something interesting to download as i don't have anything to download. any ideas? or torrent files. 😀

Sushubh, i wonder how can you survive by downloading such heavy files as the linux iso.You see I was having a really great time with my sify 32+ shared, getting 6-7 kBps, till I took the unfortunate step of d/ling the 530 MB file 🙁As of now, I have got back 5-6 kBps from 2-3 that I suffered for 3 days. But after every little while websites refuse to open unexplainably and when I try to log off the BBClient, I am getting an "Invalid Session" message. After logging right back in it starts working normally again.Looks like more "punishment" 🙁

well, it all s*cks... we need something to happen to broadband industry. same thing which happened when reliance came up with their mobiles. paying 2rupee per minute for STD all over india. Thats what I call competition.

A most interesting thing is happening to me.I have regained my bandwidth of 6-7 kBps but I seem to be getting a non-responsive internet after precisely every 20 minutes. And when I log out of the client to re-log back in, I get this message "Log-off Failure!! Invalid Session".After I log back in I get my 6-7 kBps net right back for the next 20 minutes.Thought I'd share this new apparently, undocumented developement with you guys.

That happens when you use a firewall ... and the firewall hides your computer and does not respond to the sify servers pinging ... do this - open the ini file in the bbclient directory, and configure the server ip as a safe ip in your firewall.

Ok, thanks a lot man 🙂 Can you tell me how to add a trusted IP to the Zone Alarm Free version?

Don't bother 😛 I figured it out and added the IP address to my trusted zone.Let's wait and see.I even called up their customer care a few hours back and got a complaint number with the statement "Sorry Sir, as of now I don't have any information about it. Your complaint will be relayed to the local engineers" 😉
