I guess finally they are coming to their senses, after a year in denial... Though not sure if broadcasters will take it lying down.

THe below (or some form od it) should have been implemented to make sense from day 1.

-When it comes to the channel bouquet, TRAI has also made changes there as well. TRAI mandates that a channel bouquet offered by the operator shouldn't be 1.5 times more expensive than the sum of those selected channels when bough under the a-la-carte way. Additionally, the average rate of a paid channel in the bouquet shouldn't be three times more expensive than it's a-la-carte rate.

-For broadcasters, their channel bouquets will only contain those channels that have a price of less Rs 12. For those channels priced more than Rs 12, consumers will have to choose them separately. -TRAI has decided that in case of a multi-TV connection registered to one subscriber, they will be charged a maximum of 40 per cent of declared NCF for second and additional TV connections.

man. do i have to go through the channel selection process again now? 😣

since kbc is over. the least i should do right now is remove set from dad's connection 😂

Times Now cost 6 bucks per month! I mean... This is basically like paying for mind cancer.

I guess this time there will a silent swicthover to the new pricing & we may just see some benefits. I expect either broadcasters to accept and simply revise prices as per new norms or give a fight via court. I dont see them juggling packs too much so soon again.

the new rules wrt ala-carte and individual channels would mean that they would have to modify packs containing premium channels in packages i imagine?

Thats the point. Broadcasters would need to ask themselves whats more important - ensure more people take whole bundle or their premium channel needs to be premium, even if its removed from bundle. If its the former, I just see price revisions happening. If not, yeah.. there will be new bundles. Possibility of a bit of both as well.

they have made it so complicated that one needs to hire an actuary to select a dth plan for one's personal use these days.

so i assume that in cases where they would have to remove a premium channel from a package... overall monthly charge for the consumer would increase unless they reduce the package price itself. because to comply with these new guidelines they would have to process it at their backend without customer's manual action 🤕

Right. Apart from exceptional cases , I think broadcasters would like to keep in packs for better ad selling revenues.
