I set up the driver for my lan card ... it worked ... I could ping my own ip ... then I set up my own ip address ... I could ping the sify gateway, so I @$$ume the adapter is working fine 🙂But when I use the sifyconnect application, I enter my username and p@$$word, but it just stalls after that ... I can just exit using the CTRL+C combination ... can any1 help me here?
 
have not tried the sify broadband client for linux till now. but i think the indian linux community has released its own version of linux client that works better than the official version. i will try to find it out. 🙂
 
It would be great if you could find out ... I tried without success ... btw, i'll try setting up the normal client for now, but I have a small query ... in the netconf section of linuxconf ... I entered my ip, subnet mask in the Basic host information, and my DNS search order in the appropriate section, but where do I enter my gateway ip? Sorry for the n00b question but there isn't much I know about networking or linux ...
 
Ok ... for the first time I opened up a web page in lynx ... but it was just the local server ... whenever I try to go to google or someplace it gives a "Remote host not found error". Now as I dont run XWindows (I run just in console now) ... I have no other way to check if its working 🙁
 
and they ask us why we need Pings and Traceroutes. 😡try ftp command 🙂
 

Nah ... even ftp didn't work ... so basically I can just connect to my local server ... must be a problem with their client ... it seems quite buggy ... hmm ... quite like their windows client 🙂
 
Try gettin in touch with Ilug of ur area, if u r in delhi then get in touch with ilugdelhi.org.Those guys will surely give u a clue
 
Yes I finally set it up 🙂 I had missed the DNS Name server, so I asked sify customer care for it. I only had to wait for 15 mins on the phone which isnt that bad. BTW, yup surjeet, I am a member of the ilug-d lists . . . some sify users there too 🙂
 
Hey,As alternative client all I found were dead links... does anyone know someplace I _can_ download this other client you mention...Thx
