Okay, I think everyone must have heard about this somewhere or the other ...I dont know whether this is a taboo topic on this forum, coz I havent seen any post regarding this issue ...Anyways,If you enable the VoD service via the BSNL portal, your connection jumps to 1 MBps .. no matter what plan you have ...This is basically to help you video stream when you require it ... but works for file downloads also 🙂This feature auto logs off when you disconnect, so you need to enable it everytime you login ...This is true, and I have used it quite often ...But I just heard from a friend, that they're going to start charging 100 bucks an hour for this service from Monday onwards ...Can anyone confirm this ?Thanks 🙂- Saurabh

ok i bet some happy readers will rush off and try to enable that and use it till monday... then get a rude shock when they see their aug bill heheya, there is a service order record where you can activate 1mbps, 2mbps also... but i never clicked those... someone even posted something dataone/operation(10M) ... i wonder what the 10m is !!!!

also, anyone want to try enabling the 1mbps/2mbps or VoD... during the NU time?! hehehe, will be cool if the billing ignores it due to the NU time...

Yes they are planning of launching VoD shorl but the excat date isnt out yet. Might be from monday too...but 100/hour is too much. My ideal price should have been somewhere around Rs 20-25/hr.

when will people understand, the companies do not care about what we think. they have shareholders to please, money to make. they are not in this business to do social work. with no competition, it is the only time they can actually milk the market.

But who will subscribe to their service at Rs.100 per hour? I think ISPs can make more profit by charging less money cause in turn more people would use their service. But is the infrastructure good enough to sustain large scale high speed connections? I guess not yet 🙁

it is not cable that they can earn more money by getting more people to use their services. its bandwidth. its like water. its limited. more people using does not make it profitable for the companies.

I used the VOD service for about 5 min. I had already downloaded some 180 MB of Adobe Elements from the adobe site. Some 50 MB was remaining when I activated the VOD service. The data speed jumped to 210+ KB/s. 15 MB/min.. 😛 took less than 5 min to complete the remaining download. After this d/l, I switched off VOD.But damn, this VOD would be wonderful to use as regular internet. I am going to confirm with my commercial officer whether VOD is free from 2-8am. Essentially, if that is true, then you can d/l 1GB an hour!

Please do so ...
The BSNL people here are morons ...

But as regarding to the pricing, IMHO, VOD should not be priced ...
Coz, we have a max limit of 1 GB anyways ...
There are no time plans ...

So, how does it matter how we use up our 1 GB ...

So, as long as no time plan is introduced, I think it should be free ...
Also, I searched a lot, but no pricing details are available for VOD ...

So, I guess its still in testing phase right now ...
Or more likely, the BSNL people dont know that it actually works ... 😛

anyone still using this service or have any idea whether it will be chargeable or not.. if the price is rs.25 per hour, it is acceptable.. not more than that. further feedbacks highly appreciated... 😉 pupudada

Okay ... I had put it up again last night ...
Also, prices are not available ... its just word of mouth information ...

Keep a check on the BSNL website when the offer the new tariff ...

Came across this article :
which says that Spatial networks which is going to provide content for Dataone Video on Demand and Interactive Online Gaming is in testing and will be only releasing early next year !!!

Worth taking a decko !

Sheh!!!...a month and half back i read that BSNl will be providing VoD after 5 or 6 weeks so i thought this is the time but now i read that its coming next year..this is the limit of delayment..huh@!

Yeah ...I think so ...Till they anounce something about VoD, I think its still up for testing ...As a matter of fact, if you go to enable the service, they mention it there that 'This service is only for testin purposes'So, we should go ahead and test ... eh ?( Just have to keep an eye out for any announcements though )
