Airtel used to have 499 as their minimal plan. Ads also used to show that plan. Now the ads show only 799 plan. Looks like they want to take advantage of the delay in Jio fiber launch. Airtel may tweak it when Jio actually launches.

799 has been lowest on vfiber since launch from my understanding.

Well, the lowest was indeed 799 a few months ago. But, just after the Jio fiber announcement, Airtel may have gone bit scared. So, it went down momentarily to 499. I have 499 plan as well. Even the ads showed 499 plan for a long time (right after Jio fiber announcement).

Now, they removed 499 in most cities. In my city (Madurai), we still have 599 plan. Ref: Airtel Broadband . I might switch to it, as it offers 150GB for 599. My current plan offers 100GB for 499.

dunno. i have not seen the 499/599/699 plan in a long time on their brochures, website, app here in gurgaon. they do not even give dsl plans these days i believe. they really are making things hard for the consumers. i have tried to dump them several times (considering i have way too many options these days) but the love for landline stops me.

right. if you have an alternative, you might even consider trying to get a retention plan by applying for disconnection?

Well, I started with ADSL, but switched to VDSL when I insisted. I had to wait for a month, though.

I have ACT in my area (just after Airtel provided me with VDSL). I don't want to go with ACT for a few reasons.

1. They seem to be down at an average of a couple of days a month. Yet to see downtime here, though. But, I expect some competition between ACT and Jio fiber here. Unsure, if both would resort to cutting each others' fiber.
2. Except for the speed, ACT plans (599, 799, etc) are exactly same as Airtel (to be precise, Airtel matched ACT's plans when ACT launched a few months ago in my city).
3. Launch of Jio fiber seems to be getting closer to my city (Madurai) as it is one of the few cities to get Jio fiber as per the rumors on the internet. I wouldn't want to disconnect ACT right after Jio fiber launches.

So, I'd want to go with Jio fiber when it launches and then negotiate with Airtel.

yeah in areas where vfiber is available... adsl is basically no longer available. they have not yet forced me to switch and i am happy with adsl coz of cheaper retention plan.

I am regretting opting for VFiber. The speed is supposed to be 24mbps, I was getting around 20mbps, but now I am getting about 11mpbs.

The speed depends entirely on the distance of their server from the installation location.

Initially, I was offered only ADSL connection. I had to wait for a month for VDSL. That too, with a maximum speed of 20mbps. Then, I downgraded the plan to 8mbps.

Don't you have an alternative in your area?
