I am interested in Getting TATA INDICOMM's post-paid DSL connection, INFINITY 64.What are the minimum system requirements?I intend to connect it to my 2nd PC which runs under:233 MHz CYRIX Processor MMXCyrix Motherboard45MB Available SD RAM2 GB Hard DiskWindows 98 First EditionNo USB PortsCD DriveI want to protect my other hi-spec PC from viruses (i use that exclusively for music creation), so I have to downloaded files through this and run it in the other PC.This is just a gateway.So, what all upgrades should I do for this computer? Should I get a ETHERNET PCI Card? Do I need a PCI USB Card for USB ports?

Ya if u have opted for modem connection than u will need a usb port cos they provide usb modem.

You mean, I don't need to purchase a pci ethernet card?

The out from the modem will go into a usb port instead of to the ethernet socket as in the case of BSNL dataone?

No pci ethernet card will be required. Yes the out from modem will go into a usb port and no ethernet socket will be used.

Yup no more alterations needed to ur system except tht PCI USB Card for USB ports as I stated above.

oh i too was gonna do that with my old PII but my mother board shortcircuted and blew both my ram modules.

I want to go for VSNL unlimited 64 K with router and static IP at Coimbatore.This is just for the purpose of running a demo server for our apps.Can anybody share their experience reg speed and statbility (connection) about VSNL.Sandeep

No major problems here in Chennai...I get consistent 88kBps speed.But the only irritant is that whenever it gets disconnected, it ALWAYS happens at 2p.m....dunno why....Maybe their servers get reset due to my continuous downloading (heh heh)
