Fiber testing and installation is complete. Now they need to install their A100 ONT/GPON device which will be done tomorrow and my internet will start. I have booked 100 Mbps plan so will see how it goes.

To change your plan from ADSL to VDSL, just write an application regarding the desired plan which you want & submit it to nearest CSC. Plan change will be done in 2 days, provided you have VDSL modem of your own.

As expected, double data scheme has been extended by 2 more months. Now valid till 31st May.

Link here

See the small print Note below the plans.

Double data has been made permanent it seems. They have removed up to 31st May 2019 wordings.

That was expected ... they always do that.

Now I will switch my triband plan to 12mbps / 110 GB / 150 calls free.

Sufficient for me at 600Rs/month (708Rs with tax)

Just keeping fingers crossed that line does not disconnect repeatedly

I shifted to 12mbps too .. this is first month. Working fine from about 16-17 days.

Line disconnects sometimes but same as it used to do when I was on 6mbps .. so not an issue.

Initially operator said I will get only 8mbps based on line conditions.

But I insisted that .. no keep it on atleast 10mbps.

But somehow they still put me on 12mbps and all seems ok.

Actually when I asked for 12 mbps - the mtnl aunties called in & bargained for 8 mbps as I cannot get 12mbps in my area and I OKay it without waking my head .
But in actual their backend team gave 12mbps so I am happy !

Haha so you will get more GBs per month.

On my bill it shows 8mbps plan but on register.mtnl.net.in it shows 12mbps plan.

So I am not sure which one will be applicable for GB / FUP.

But in any case I am not going to exceed 110GB limit of 12mbps, so it does not make any difference to me.

I just got extra 60gb data as a work from home gift from MTNL Mumbai. Even the usage checking portal says 60GB addon pack applied to my plan.

They are too cheap to offer double data. MTNL Mumbai at least.

I did not get double data but I got 60 GB extra. (Although I dont even use current 110GB quota - so 60GB extra or not does not make any difference to me)
