I've tried everything but I am just not able to get my new bsnl broadband connection working. I've read a million sites and tried a million permutations in settings but to no avail. My router Netgear d500 was being used for bsnl broadband in my last city. But after shifting and taking new bsnl connection, it refuses to work. It doesn't show ip address in internet port and modem status shows as link down. Can anybody guide? Btw bsnl employees are useless and are not showing up for last 3 days now. Is there any way I can add screenshots here?

you said new bsnl connection right, so the old login credentials wont work. they have to add broadband options to your new number in exchange . you can try to go to the exchange and see the senior offical there. talk to him/her about it and lets see what happens.

They've given me user ID & pw for my new connection. Their lazy technician is saying he can not come home and also that Netgear has this issue and I'll have to purchase a new router. 😛 but I'm determined to prove him wrong. Bsnl complaint resolution is useless. After almost 30days of connection, finally I got dial tone 3 days back.

Hi, if you go to the nearest office with the new modem, the official there, in the level of JTO , would help you to configure the modem. They will configure the modem and check the connection there itself with your phone number. Then just connect it at your home with the modem and there will be no problem . The officials there know, to configure all types of modem, including non bsnl supplied modems.
If that is far away, just say, which model router you have so that we could give you link to the configuration guide or you could yourself search for it.
It is very simple, just supply the vci as 32 and connection as pppoe.
But you need to take the modem to the nearest bsnl office. Hope you would do
what is the error showing when you try to connect to the internet. Is the dsl light stays on like internet light> Most modeem have wizard , just supplying date and place, and id pw, you get your connection
