So now that I am being forced to use the new Gmail… there are two bugs that are pretty fucking annoying. I have reported the first one to Google and they suggest using another browser or using another device. Navjot has been able to replicate it on his end so the problem is definitely not my browser or some browser extension or my computer.

Bug #1: New Gmail makes it incredibly annoying to copy text in mail
This is an annoying bug as it happens randomly. Open an unread email in your inbox. Select some text inside the email. Around 80% of the times, Gmail would deselect the selected text or expand selection to elements around the text. Because of this bug… I now have to make selection twice around 80% of the times when I am trying to copy something from an email.

Bug #2: Gmail throws me back to page 1 of Inbox if I go back and forward in my inbox
This bug applies to Gmail accounts which have one of these two options enabled (Go to the next (newer) conversation/Go to the previous (older) conversation). My account is set to load the older email in conversation when I delete/archive mails through my inbox.
The bug is that while processing, if you press the back button (or J I assume) to go back to the previous mail. And then press forward button (or K I assume)… Gmail loses track of your position in your inbox. Next time you press J or K, Gmail throws you back to the page 1 of Inbox. This is especially annoying if you are going through mails on page N of your inbox.
In fact, I think Gmail lost track of where you are while you are processing your mails in your inbox if new mails come in the background. There have been times when it shows that I have gone through all the emails and when I turn to inbox, older mails are still there unread. Should mention here that I prefer to keep my Inbox empty so either I delete mails or I archive them. So this is also something that most people might not notice.

Would be cool if some of you guys can try replicating these issues and confirm!

just curious... can anyone replicate bug 1 on their gmail accounts? ?

Not facing either of those issues. But I am using latest Chrome browser with only adblock extension.

What browser and extensions are you using? Maybe one of the extensions is interfering with things.

My Automation scripts are not working after new Gmail became default for all.
After opening mail, element is not getting located by Automation script, although when I checked locator's value, it is same as earlier.

bug1. i too had this issue. i thought it had something to with my mouse or i accidentally clicked outside the selected area.

i also noticed that when i try to login in to my gmail ,after the username and password field the account gets logged in but soon it logs out automatically and need to again login in the second time to get into my account.

as vishal suggested. dont know if this is causing because i switched back to old chrome due to multiple issues. may be latest chrome dont have an issue.

noticing a new annoying behavior. click is not registered in open email. happens around 10% of the times. first click is completely ignored if you click on a link.

it is definitely not my mouse because i only notice it on mails in gmail.

here is another amazing feature on gmail. mark all mails as read. but it would continue to show them as unread. amazing!

found another issue this week.
find an email that contains an email address.
right click on the email address (i use it to copy the email id).
gmail would open a compose window with that email id.
this behavior should happen on left click not right click.

Bug #2: Gmail throws me back to page 1 of Inbox if I go back and forward in my inbox
Looks like Gmail has finally fixed this particular bug. Though the navigation seems to be still buggy as it sort of misses mails in between.

I have seen and tried. It appears that hiding the meeting section actually turns it off. If I ever needed to use it I would have to go into settings and turn it back on. I dont want to turn it off, I simply want this menu tucked away from my sight, but should come back on if someone calls me or so that I could use it with one click if I needed.

Same with Chat, it appears to disable chat completely. I dont want to disable, I simply want it out of sight unless someone is sending me a message or until I need to use it.

you can use the dedicated websites for hangouts and meets i believe?

Simplify Gmail is another option i believe. it has a keyboard shortcut option that can switch between regular and simplified ui. works very well.
