are the users of broadband experiencing increase in speed from 10 mb to 20 mbps

Hi, I am not experiencing the speed that was promised by the BSNL for some plans . Eventhough, technically they changed the plan, in reality , this speed has not reached me. I tried all sorts of tricks .
Are they effected practically? Or yet to be effected practically.
From the beginning i am a lover of bsnl broadband and if somebody gives clear picture , it would be a helpful reply.
Normally, existing 10 mbps plans speed varies differently reaching as low as 6 to 7 and then maintain 10 at odd times.
This they say vary according to the demands at the time.

Hi, When they increased from 8 mbps to 10 mbps,it was effected practically. I experienced the speed without any problem. I also suppose that without increasing the infrastucture, a jump of 10 mb seems not that easy. I do not know the technicality of those infrastructure. But why the process was not automated to all the plans as per the announcement.
These should not involve the users to contact to change them for speeds.
The reason that line problem of user is in their line is one of the reason they cite, but after all the tricks, including change of splitters does not give the promised speed.
In some of the thread, they suggested to contact the staff to increase the speed,
i want it done auto matically for all the customers of the plan, in an automated way, and also may want bsnl authrorities to watch if all the users are getting those speed or nearer to them. Users in remote villages do not watch their speed.
I mean, they should monitor every user speed and if the user is having problem in speed , they may monitor and correct instead of users contacting individually py phone.
Unless this is the way of approach , then i think , like me who is the supporter of bsnl in all they do, would have to search for other alternatives

It is the limitation of ADSL inwhich the speed decreases as the distance from exchange increases. Another important factor is stability. The stability depends on the distance too. When the distance to the exchange is over 2km and if one wants 20mbps speed, then it is practically impossible to provide such connection without lots of packet loss.

I know almost all the staff in the local exchange. I've asked them to limit the port speed to 5mbps for my connection considering the distance of my house from the exchange. For me, stability is more important than speed.

If speed is important to you, go for FTTH or broadband over wi-fi. Both are available throughout India. FTTH cabling is not free, in villages, though.

Private operators are no different. Have a look at Airtel VDSL. They quote max speed depending on the distance, even though, their website would say differently.

If BSNL or Airtel automates the speed increase, everyone's life would be mess when it really happens.

tldr; In reality, it isn't possible to provide maximum advertised speed without losing the stability of the connection.

Hi, Thanks for the reply. BSNL announces speed increase for broadband plans having copper wire or drop wire. I also read an article in a newspaper that user need not change the modem to get this speed.
Changing of FTTH plan is individual preference, is it not?
I am not having anythought of airtel or aircell.
