which phone are you using? check with other phones also. open Asus android app and reset the router once from there. see if any Quality of service (QoS) settings are limiting speeds for individual phones

also tell me who is your internet provider

I have the same router
I have to change some settings for YOUBroadband

and try updating the firmware from hear
RT-AC58U BIOS & FIRMWARE | Networking | ASUS Global
if it is an older phone than 2/ 3 Years login to your router using 192.168.1.1 IP addresss
enter user name and password you set
go to wireless and change 2.4 GHZ radio type to N only and clic apply
after that change 5 GHZ to N/AC Mixed and clic apply
it should work

I am using act broadband was getting around 100mbps when in 1st got it over WiFi, no issue on direct lan.

1. Using 5ghz, Nexus 5x

2. Fire stick, 5gz

3. G4 play, 2.4ghz
all giving same results even if done right next to it.

4. I have removed username and password from router give by isp and instead now need to login on isp site and then net connects, I think before this it was giving proper speeds, there is some issue with isp IP series and does not allow some sites to work on previous method, so had to change it.

Did full factory reset and also used pppoe but still speeds are sruck at 20Mbps was working fine when I had got it few months back, also TP-Link dual band antenna was giving me 10Mbps speeds costing only Rs 600 lol,

Looks like some major firmware scerew up.

Qos is disabled on it though.

On normal lan connection speed is @150Mbps

remove any usb attached or torrent downloads or any extra added stuff and then try.

first update the firmware virsion to
3.0.0.4.380_8375
then reset the router using reset button on the back
you need pen for this
press and hold that reset button for 15 seconds then let go
after a wile your router must restored to original state
then use your pc and set it up as the quick setup says
after that go to wireless change 2.4 GHZ mode to N only and channel band width to 40 MHZ clic apply and waite for the router to restart
now choos 5 GHZ under wireless and change mode to N/AC mixed channel band width to 80 MHZ
then clic apply
after the router restarts log out of your router
and go to selfcare.actcorp.in
and login from the ISP side
should bee fine

thanks

Hi thanks for detailed response, it has autoupdated few days back to latest firmware xxx.8375.
I have just made other changes too, 5ghz now is on ac/n and 80 MHz

I cleaned it with Colin too, the antenna which did not look dirty though as I had cleaned it just couple of days back, now getting around 80Mbps download and 25Mbps upload, I have 150Mbps up and down.

Personally I think even if the hardware is good, antenna are proabably not good quality, my TP-Link I had outside the house I probably barely cleaned it's antennas and always use to give a stable and sturdy connection. The only reason for leaving TP Link router costing only 1k was it did not go beyond 100Mbps. I was getting around 96Mbps on it over WiFi.

I am having the same router. I can easily max out my 200 Mbps connection over WiFi with this router. What is the cable you are using to connect the Modem to router? Is it Cat 5 or 6? Can you try replacing the cable with the latest Cat 7 one from Amazon. Even after this if you face the issue try getting a replacement from Asus as this router has 3 year warranty.
