and in addition to that they don't give u even the promised speeds. think about that.

Yeah. I think what gets on their nerves is us downloading heavy files like games, movies, software etc. For me the speeds were simply marvelous as I once posted here. I was getting 6-7 kBps at 11.20 in the morning! And I don't know whether I had got off the wrong side of the bed that day when I decided to download a huge file. They don't seem to like that. That's Ok as long as as you make it clear outfront. And then intimate us that we have outstripped our quota. Stop our net, throttle it, whatever. But bring it back to the original levels sooner or later! Why would we have to suffer this mental agony.Speaking for myself, I have myself to blame for a major part because despite reading the horror stories on this forum that customers faced after downloading things, I couldn't resist the greed of downloading a huge game demo off a relatively cheap connection. And here I am now 😕

Yeah this is a lot cheaper than dial-up man.Try staying on the net for even 3 hrs per day on a dial up with a speed of 2-3 kBps which is what we get for normal on dial-up (and which is the minimum here on Sify), and look at your bill at the end of the month.I used to get bills of Rs. 3000 a month. I have suffered dial up which is equivalent to getting chana at the price of caviar.

i never was on dialup for that reason. same reason i never bought a mobile phone when it costed 18 rupee for a minute.i bought sify coz they promised me something. if they don't and tell me that... hey look, u are paying nothing compared to dialup users...well, does not make sense to me.

i was on dail up 3 years ago , speed was a problem , but our telephone bill was paid by BANK(my father used to work in bank)

dad is in govt service as well. but i chose not to use his official phone for personal surfing 😕anyways sify s*cks on dialup as well.

Well, I didn't have any net at home about a year back and I used to go to cyber cafes which charged essentially as much as a dial up costs. They still do that.

The point is the only internet available in india even a year or two back was either at around Rs. 20 /hr which was exorbitant if you added up the daily usage, or around Rs 1000 - Rs 1500 / month, which was out of the reach of a lot of people too.

I agree, and I couldn't do anything else, that Sify doesn't give what it promises, that is unlimited internet. However I believe that getting a month's worth of it for around Rs. 600 is a great leap, from what you'd have to pay to get any internet just some time ago.

Also looking at the past, it's Ok to have internet at Rs. 600 - 700 with some strings attached, I think, as long as it's properly managed and duly conveyed to us.

Also I have observed that mostly my upload speed is more than my download speed.Generally the download speed is more since we download more data than we upload unless we are running a web server which Sify anyway won't allow us to do.So, my guess is that my upload speed remains unthrottled because I myself haven't touched it as much as i have my download bandwidth.Yeah, Sify doesn't like us touching our bandwidths. Maybe we should just preserve our net connections in a showcase or somewhere

The upload speeds used to be very high in the past when sify was not so bad 🤔

Crap. Now what might we be able to do with high upload speeds. For one we could play songs on chat rooms.

Is the bandwidth limit random there? After reading the posts it just seems to fluctuate regardless.
