Let's discuss about what can be done to improve the Sify Broadband Client...First thing that comes to mind is that we do not need a client afterall. The old web-based system was perfect. It was platform independent and worked well. Now they will have to worry about 3 of the popular OSs Windows, Linux and Mac OS.Other than that...This is for Windows. If you cannot make it a Windows Service, make it atleast use Windows Components which act and behave like Windows Applications. Let me login with 1 click. That is, the client should not wait for me to click LOGIN after I start the application. I start the client and I get logged in. As simple as that.Let the application be divided into 2 applications. Login and Logoff... I do not need an application that consumes precious RAM doing nothing but running in background pinging random servers. I login with one command, and logoff with another. No need for anything running.Let me atleast have a genuine Broadband connection if you cannot give me broadband speeds. Why do I get logout even when I have not told the client to log me out? This happens every time after a time period has p@$$ed by. I need to remain logged in unless I tell it to log me out.The stupid client requires 4 clicks to logout. Does that make sense? Not to me...

If only I had gotten here earlier. Someone already posted the logout link all you have to do is visit the link and you will be logged out, add that to the favourites of your browser and logout will be much faster. Anyway I would like the web based system better but if we're stuck with this there should be an option to stay logged in all the time but which should log you out automatically if the computer is turned off. For the people with time based packages this would help when the power goes off.

I think the best system would be for one to log in (web based) and then every 3 minutes they ping us requesting echo ... allowing a maximum of 2/3 "request timed out" before disconnecting. That way if we shutdown without logging off ... we only record max 9 mins extra ... and for the very time conscious, the client can be used ...I dunno 😕 but it seems better than the client anyway ...

in case you did not notice, most of the sify packages are time or data transfer bound.

if the case is like this, they can maintain different servers for different kinds of package. For unlimited connection to logon they can use different server that do not ping or logout us.

heh, my net works as per the 128kbps night only package. and they blame my slow day time speed to 75megs limit which they do not even mention on their website.and you expect them to plan this brilliantly?

Atleast make the client light on resources ... is 8MB required for such a simple and stupid client???!!!!
