₹399 postpaid plan is back with 40GB data & unlimited calls

I am having Airtel 4G Dongle which had Rs 499 plan with 75 GB. Since it was Dongle plan it had no other benefits. On Airtel App I found that I can change plan. So 2 months back I changed to Rs 499 plan which gave 75 GB internet, unlimited calls/sms, Hotstar VIP, Amazon Prime, Wynk Music and Xtreme TV.
But I already have Amazon Prime and Hotstar Premium, so its of no use for me. So I am thinking to downgrade to Rs 399 plan which will remove Amazon and Hotstar and give 40 GB. Since Airtel Dongle is only used for backup purpose, so I think 40 GB should be fine.

I wanted to know whether Airtel reduce speed for lower plans. Right now I get very good speed which allows me Office Video calls as well as Video streaming from SharePoint and Udemy. I am worried if after downgrading from 499 to 399 plan, whether speed would also reduce.

I doubt speed would have any impact with postpaid plan change.
Even prepaid v postpaid speed diff is not allowed now.

But is it followed 😀
My brother has Airtel's Prepaid and Postpaid sim. Internet works very well with Postpaid sim, while speed is lower and internet fails often on Prepaid sim.

I agree too. While technically not allowed, Both Airtel and Vodafone prioritize postpaid. I have seen that many times and when there is congestion, the impact on postpaid is still lower.

Today my Airtel billing cycle changes, and I tried to change plan from 499 to 399. But during confirmation, it gave message that I would lose Amazon Prime, Hotstar VIP, Wynk Premium (some other Wynk which have no song download option is available with 399 plan) and rollover data of 180 GB!
So I though to stay on 499 plan for a while and consume all data 😀
