Triband: Connection gets disconnected

HI! I am using bitcomet and am keeping my pc on from say 12:30 to 7:30 for downloads (night unlimited 😉 ) but when i wake up at 7:30 i find that the ethernet light on the router is off and only 10% to 20% of the file gets downloaded. I have tried many things (still trying) to keep the connection alive. Thought you guys might have any solution. Please help me out on this one.One solution i found on the net was that the isp disconnects you due to inactivity to save bandwidth. but when the download is going on how can there be inactivity?Even though i downloaded some software who constantly send http requests to random sites to keep the connection alive by showing some activity, but even that failed. PLEASE HELP ME ON THIS ONE! COZ I AM UNABLE TO UTILIZE MY NIGHT UNLIMITED PLAN COMPLETELY.

maybe the computer is turning off the NIC to save power.check if that option is disabled.right click my computer.properties.hardware.device manager.network adapters.and under power management uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.hope that helps

HI! Guys. The problem was with the usb. i switched over to ethernet and it now works. i mean it doesnt get disconnected anymore.

USB seems to have the same problems on airtel broadband... u just cannot stay connected for a longer period of time.

few ethernet cards also have a small processor (or do all have?)... usb lan cards are more simple.... cud that be a reason?

this is a bug in windows xp. Even if u disable the power down when idle on usb controllers it does not do that. like coolbuddy said ethernet cards are simple, no onboard processors and depends on the cpu power supply. hence the behaviour. anyways i tweaked my connection and am getting more performance.

Disabled the DHCP server
Switched to ethernet interface from USB
And some registry tweaks from net to speed up DSL connections

Ya sure. will take some time to properly organize the tweaks. i am planning to write an article on speeding up triband connections. so watch out for it. also visit my website if you are into software programming or a computer science student.
