hey guys
I'm facing a really strange issue from quite a while now with my broadband connection from Excitel. it sometimes start disconnected again and again it or it will just disconnect and won't connect back. now here comes the strange part -- i have found a temporary fix for that i.e. if i just take the direct cable that is coming from their end and just shake it a bit and plug it back in, it starts working again and it keeps working for like 5-9 hrs sometimes even more then 24hrs but then again it would disconnect and i will have to take that cable out and shake it so that it would work again.
has anyone ever faced this strange issue with Excitel ?
what do u guys suggest what should i do ?

if disconnecting cable from your router and then reconnecting works. Ask you local cable guy to cut and properly punch the ethernet cable.

there should be some major packet loss with your connection if you cable is not properly punched, check ping stats .

@Smh i just checked its still same old 3 %, so do u still think it could cable punching problem and unfortunately i don't who my LCO is so do u think call customer care would work ?
They somewhat irritating in my opinion.

it's possible that water has entered the ethernet cable 😛
this used to happen with sify broadband.
try checking the connector and see if it feels moist.
just speculating.

once a sify user posted a video of water dripping from the ethernet cable on this forum.

Excitel does not have a customer care 😀 If your LCO is not interested in finding out the issue, you are basically out of luck.

@Smh @Sushubh @IBF @philip marlowe Actually on sunday it died on me completely, no connectivity at all. My router was showing wan cable status as disconnected an even when i tried connecting directly through my Desktop, it showed me that red cross which means cable was disconnected from somewhere. Somewhere i gave them a call and in like 2-3 hours they fixed it but after 3-4 it got disconnected again but this time it was that old strange thingy, so i fixed it myself (by now i guess you all know how i fixed it myself (LoL)).
So then i reported this to them through myexcitel

And yesterday i got this reply from them.

Luckily since then that strange issue hasn't reappeared yet.

Don't know what fixed it maybe something they did to fix it when it was completely down but then again why it went down for that one time.
