How does a router with a 100 Mbps WAN port provide speeds upto 1000 Mbps as claimed by every non gigabit router?

It doesn't. Just a marketing gimmick.

Perhaps it can support those speeds wireless to wireless (ie between two wireless devices)? 😉

never seen a router being advertised as a gigabit and 100Mbps wan port in its specs. when you look at the specs of these routers you will see that the wan port is 1Gbps.

Care to share links of the routers you are talking about?

@Aakash Malhotra, I think @Akshat is pointing to routers advertised with AC1200 or AC1350 speeds but having only a fast ethernet WAN port.

oh. saw the specs . indeed the wan port is listed at 100Mbps and wireless speed is listed at 800Mbps. lmao output > input XDD

someone should drop them a mail regarding this.

@Aakash Malhotra This is the case with almost all the routers. They have a 100 Mbps WAN port but promise to provide 1000 Mbps.
TP-Link AC1350 is one such router,there are many more.

indeed this is false advertising. a case can be filed against such product listings in consumer court.

Anyone has feedback on the below linked ToTo Link Gigabit AC router.... One of the cons I know that it does not
support IPv6....

I have seen router from little known brands giving very good performance and range. i.e. Skyworth router has a good range...

AFAIK Airtel sells the AC1200 toto link for ~ 1K to it's fibre customers. It's a decent router but range is not that good. Don't see IPv6 gaining widespread adoption, at least from small players. IPv4 is here to stay for quite some time.
