How does a router with a 100 Mbps WAN port provide speeds upto 1000 Mbps as claimed by every non gigabit router?

It doesn't. Just a marketing gimmick.

Perhaps it can support those speeds wireless to wireless (ie between two wireless devices)? ;)

never seen a router being advertised as a gigabit and 100Mbps wan port in its specs. when you look at the specs of these routers you will see that the wan port is 1Gbps.

Care to share links of the routers you are talking about?
