A non profit FM radio channel, where I would like to broad cast programs, to promote peace between the hyderabad society. (Hindu, Muslim, Sikh and ...), I hope this works well for the society.
I have calculated the expences for the setup but do not know how much it will cost for Licence.
Any one have idea how much it cost for a licence

I am employed abroad and can afford to run the station as long as I am employed.
any Ideas and suggestions for this cause are welcome.

better u start a web radio which is easy to setup and less cost and wider reach all over the world.

@ companion , unfortunately getting a FM license costs a lot ;
not affordable by an individual or a small group of NRIs - sad ...

suryan's idea could be simpler and effective . Another idea is
to buy air time on existing (FM) radio station(s) .

however if you are still interested in the FM radio license then

Just for people who want to know how much it will cost for Setup excluding the licence fees1. the FM transmitter of 250Kw costs around 100,000RS and the distance covered by it is about 50KM this is one time setup of equipment 5 year garranty.2. Administration:lets say we hire 2 employeesPart-timer, Inter student as a host for the station - with good communication skills with pay 24000RS/annum.Part-timer, senior citizen who is retired will administor and guide the host and incharge of the programs with pay of 50000RS/annum.3. you can keep 26000RS/annum for extra unknown expences4. there is a 5min/hour advertisement allowed for community service Radio stations Licence, we can generate some revenue for the station, this is the time alloted by government for non-profit organisations. India is unlike many western countries where getting an FM station licence is easy. India fears that independent radio might be used in exposing govt wrongdoings, thats why it fears giving licenses to small individuals or orgs.

No. Only NGO's and educational institutions of three years standing allowed to set up community FM radio. of 50W power. You will be arrested if you set up any kind of Broadcast station in India. No question of a license., and you will be a "sitting duck" to trace !
