BSNL has done it again. 🙂

They have reduced rates from Rs.500 to 250 per month for their BB Data one
service. advt. in the Hindu dt.11-08-05

it is high time we the users of BB should send encouraging and thank you letters
to the young minister mr.dayanidhi maran on this achievement. If requests are made to increase the download limits from 1 GB to 2GB considering the price level he may start thinking to oblige. why not all of us try to send email to him.

mr.marans email id is minister@mit.gov.in

this reduction is going to make airtel also announce reduction soon. B)

when BSNL introduced the scheme at Rs.500/- with free downloads
upto June 05, Airtel people when contacted stiffly replied that they need
not canvass for subscribers like this. But soon within 2 months, they also
announced the scheme when BSNL scheme was about to be over.

let us hope for reduction in the price and increase in the download limit.

No they havent reduced the rates .They just added a new plan costing Rs 250 with ad/l limit of 400Mb which is cotler than Home 500. The other plans remain unchanged no increase in limit nor no reduction in rates...so where is the 50%red. we are talking about ???

Do we need to aprreciate them because we get U/L D/L at 2 - 8 am or for reducing rates for every xtra MB downlaoded to 1.2 from prev Rs 2??
That U/L thing is just fine ..wud have been better if they increased the timings and about that Rs 1.2/Mb is still crap

So do you think they still deserve an appreciation ???

today morning I saw the advt. hence the letter. other details you have
mentioned i take it as true. thanks a lot.

mr.maran deserves the appreciation for the fact that after his induction into
the cabinet as tel.com minister only, real changes have started to take place in
the tel.com scene in India.

for example the sancharnet dial up service, was made available to public, only after so many years of its inception. Even the application forms were issued to the people who could visit BSNL major centres.

Another service DIAS which was similar to ADSL has been kept away
from public usage. Even now I suppose it exits. In chennai it was available only at two centres. Such was the efficiency of BSNL.

now in the last 5 years it has undergone a sea change. Now the GM of BSNL is at least making news in the papers once in a month.

during Jan,05 Airtel stoutly refused any plans in their BB tariffs. Even now
their 60kbps unlimited sheme is priced at Rs.995/- where as hathway charging
Rs.995/- per month for 250kbps connection.

Rs.250/- pm at this limit still is good for many people who wants email exchange and runs a small business or home office. I am certain this scheme will be fine tuned still. The main attraction is it is affordable. If previously 1 lakh connections were there, this will help to add another 1 lakhs at least.

BSNL can never match the customer care of private ISP's for the simple reason that they cannot educate/get rid off the existing staff, or make a selection like private sector.
BSNL's utility lies in their ability to make others like AIRTEL to do everything to
keep their customers satisfied and happy. BSNL makes Airtel run for their money.

Unless BSNL announces new tariffs, plans etc., AIRTEL will become a monopolist
because of its money power and start looting the BB users.

hence the need for appreciation and encouragement of mr.maran.

once again thank you for the extra info.

please check airtel rates its 64 kbps for Rs 600 and its 128kbps for Rs 900.If airtel copies bsnl then its gonna increase its rates as ,it has announced night unlimited from ( 9pm to 8 am )as they are yet to imepliment NU, now after bsnl announcement they might end up decreasing U/l d/l time to 10:30 to 6:00 or even less.Well the only thing bsnl has done is to decrease ,initial installation and registration thing, and they did this cos airtel already offers installation and registration at Rs 0 in most of its plans.check that out with your local airtel office

This is not reduction of rates.....a 50% reduction in rates means that 1GB pack wud be avaialble at Rs 250.....but its not so....its an eyewash
