Blessing, always wonder why not allow this.
I hate airtel idea voda for standing against this.

Yup after news i re checked my settings again. Few more days and network nightmare to be over finally.

Imho, WiFi calling shouldn't be locked to the carrier's broadband line. If that's the case then it is plain ass retard implementation of the technology.

The article says :

Explaining the process, an official said that to avail internet telephony, a consumer would need to download the app that an operator may offer. “Following this, one will get a 10-digit number which is like any other mobile telephone number. For example, you may be using an Airtel SIM for your existing telecom needs, but may later download a Jio internet telephony app for which you will get a new and different number. This app can be used to make calls using broadband.”

Man, if this comes true, I will finally live the dream of running 2 numbers on a single iPhone :-D

So according to the article, this is somewhat how Google Voice works. I hope we'll have all-cloud carriers such as Voice sometime in future.

It's also not clear if it's WiFi calling they are referring to or VoWiFi? Installing the carrier's dialling app and issuance of new numbers just to call via wifi is yet again shabby implementation of the technology.

However, in case you download the app of the same service provider that you are currently using, then you can have the same number, an official said.

This kind of relates to Wifi Calling. Since Wifi Calling patches are already provided to device manufacturers like Samsung, Google, Apple there is no need of additional app like Jio4GVoice. Even Apple lists Jio as only operator who enabled Wifi Calling. We can expect some update soon.

On reading again, these proposals are just now approved. To be implemented as policy is 3-4 months away. So few more months.

Security testing done. Now other formalities pending.
I think 1st aug is the date. Bsnl internet telephony landline bookings also opens from 1st aug.
gigatv to gigatv calls are also ip based which would be live after 15th aug.
So aug it is all my inhouse network woes would be gone. Hopefully!
