Port forwarding or DMZ on DOCSIS 2.0 modem

I have tried port forwarding but checking those port on various port status websites, ports are closed even after forwarding them. This is causing me issues with torrents and games. I cannot find a DMZ option in the settings. I have called the guy who installed my connection and he will tell the engineer to call me tomorrow but I have little faith in this.
