Thanx 4 d info 🙂

They have done a nice job of stealing some info from this place, however reading through it, it looks like they have made a real effort on their part to protect their customers. They did go overboard on some parts though.

Disable file transfers in IM programs, as this feature, if configured incorrectly, can enable the sharing of more than you intend[/b]
Yeah sure but there is no need to disable file transfers as in most im programs the default setting is to ask whether to accept or deny the file.

Another thing, if they can put 'Prevent PC sharing' under 'About Sify broadband' then they might as well put their terms of service under the same table rather than in small font at the bottom.

It's a useful document.

They have googled for things and lifted pieces from various websites and made these guidelines (most of us know things from using google only 😉 ).

Here's one such site :- http://firewallguide.com/

good find...keep it up!!! 🙂seems the Sify document is also taken from here only 😛

Well, at least they are trying. You really have to educate your users a bit.You see, on other always on connections (Sify is not truly always on, but u are at least always connected to the network, save when it is down), u use a DSL modem, router whatever, which has an inbuilt firewall. Whereas here on Sify u use just an NIC, which means a software firewall is a must. B4 they made it compulsory for everyone to use an antivirus, the networks were flooded with viruses! Now that I access thru a router, I no longer need a firewall.
