I fcked up real badly in a way. On my main Jio phone, I recharged for one whole year in advance in March last year when they said they would increase prices soon and to recharge in advance quickly. I had made 12 recharges of Rs.499 for 2GB per day data. The prices never increased and nor did I get any benefit of the advance recharge. I am paying multiple times of what others are paying for the same data on that phone. Again, I not complaining as I am still relatively satisfied with their service and it gave me options from the 10 years of monopoly of BSNL in Assam (there were no other affordable plans then though BSNL brought even cheaper 3G and broadband plans compared to Jio after facing competition .. I am also relatively satisfied with BSNL for backup now.. now BSNL 3G speeds are also comparable to the relatively slower Jio 4G speeds). Jio changed the market which is the best thing to happen and did not happen for more than 10 years since I got BSNL (before the advent of Jio).
I can understand Jio's strategy and more power to them. However, it would have been better if the sort of pushing to recharge early (which made me recharge a year i.e. 12 recharges in advance) would not have been made. Nevertheless, best of luck to them and hope they grow and launch FTTH too soon. But probably I would not take a lot of connections or do a lot of recharges in advance if that happens. LOL. For the first time in my life, I have multiple options for relatively stable and affordable internet and that is a good feeling for sure. 😀 I still maintain 5 Jio numbers including my family (3 of my own) but I do not use most of them anymore. So, I would probably stop the extra ones or at least 1 of them before Aadhar becomes mandatory (not still sure... I also do not think Aadhar would be there in Assam for another year or so as NRC completion would still take a lot of time). I would probably take the Jio FTTH instead once it launches in Guwahati.
