‘Aadhaar card not enough to perform a marriage’
Aadhaar cards may serve as a valid document to utilise a host of services offered by government and non-governmental organisations, but child helpline authorities have decided not to accept the cards as age proof after detection of a wrong date of birth on one such card, using which a child marriage was being performed by showing the bride as an adult.
They insist on production of a birth certificate or SSC certificate for performing marriage rituals, says Kandukuri Srinivasa Deekshitulu, a priest at the Janardhan temple at Kandukur.
Officials have slowly started understanding the limitations and problems of the Aadhaar.

it's insane considering uidai themselves have admitted several times that aadhaar is not a proof of age or address. it is of course also not a proof of nationality. i do not even think that this was raised as an issue by the lawyers on the petitioner's side though i probably missed it.

seems like in some states it might be mandatory to publish your aadhaar number with your name change declaration in newspaper. i mean this does not seem voluntary but could be. lunacy.

UIDAI does not even admit that Aadhaar is mandatory or any responsibilities for its use/misuse. It is the govt/corporate officials demanding Aadhaar using various pretenses to harass the public into enrollment and denying service thereafter for authentication failure.
