Skoda currently has 10 models (and variants) to offer to Indian customer in the market right now including the top end Skoda L&K, Skoda Superb and the SkodaRS. This year would see them launch models like variants on the D5 platform as well as the Octavia Combi. 2006 would see an updated version of Octavia and the much-awaited Skoda Fabia.

The company is also planning to expand their capacities of manufacturing cars at their Aurangabad facility. With parent company Volkswagen planning their own manufacturing plant in India, future seems bright for this auto giant in the Indian market.

According to the fifth annual reliability survey by What Car? Magazine, Skoda cars not only need infrequent repairs but also attract among the lowest garage bills. However, the study also said that the Japanese models remain the most trouble free cars of all. They continue to dominate the lists of trouble free vehicles in the magazine’s list.

Honda remains the one of the most recognized brands for reliability and is followed by Mazda, Toyota, Nissan and Lexus completed the top five spots. Lexus is also owned by Toyota and Nissan happens to be another Japanese giant in Automobile market. Richard Headland, the features editor of What Car? Said in a statement: “This is the first year that the Skoda has appeared in the top ten of our reliability survey and it is clear that the brand has become more popular in recent years.”

Skoda cars to become expensive in India next month

For those who were impatiently waiting for the Skoda Fabia (and I was amongst them since I wanted to buy a second car for the house) let me urge all of you to look elsewhere. I bought this car only last month - a classic diesel version and it has already started giving me problems. The cars air conditioning has completely stopped working in the peak summer heat of delhi. I encountered for the nightmare of SKODA service for the first time when they took the whole day to even look at my car. Finally they told me that some compressor pipe was faulty and needed to be replaced and this would take at least 15 days! The skoda fabia is a new car in the market and one would assume that a company like skoda that claims to be obssessed with customer service and quality would - a) not produce a car with defects and b) have spare parts in stock for a new car in the market! In a nutshell i would strongly urge people to avoid buying the skoda fabia. Before buying the skoda fabia i would strongly recommend you to look at other options available in the market. For now it seems that i am left to suffer at the hands of skoda auto india.

The skoda fabia is a big farce, a defective car. I bought one a month back and it has already started giving me problems. The air conditioning has completely stopped functioning. I encountered the nightmare of Skoda service 2 days back when it took them one whole day to even look at my car and then tell me that a pipe was faulty and it would take them 15 days to replace it. 15 days without an AC in the peak summer of delhi. I shudder to think what the future holds. If they dont have spare parts, why do they launch a car? I was eagerly awaiting the skoda fabia myself, but i would not urge other consumers to look at other options. The skoda service in Gurgaon is over burdened. The skoda fabia is a car that needs to be avoided.
