Finally, after freaking 5 years i have got rid of shitty BSNL copper wire internet which was nothing but a pain in the ass. I paid the ridiculous price of 2500 rupees per month for a 4mb connection just to get 80 gb download limit.

I was waiting for Airtel or Netplus to provide service in my area (both give very high speeds for half the money especially Netplus which offers 50 to 100 Mbps connections for very cheap price in Punjab). But they kept saying next year they will come in our area for sure but they never did.

Long story short. A friend of mine called me and told me he is using 100 mbps Bsnl fiber for just 1600 rupees. Even though 110 gb download limit is still ridiculous its much better deal than what i got. So I opted for 50mpbs connection for 1290 rupees which gives 310 gb download per month. Been using this connection for a week and not a single problem so far and i get full 50 mbps throughout the day.

So guys if you have fiber option take it in a heartbeat. Currently, its one of the best and fastest connection you can get if you don't have private companies in your areas. Since i took mine, 5 more people took new fiber connections after they saw how fast my internet runs now. Speeds are as promised, ping/latency is low and i can play any online games like World of Warcraft (pvp is smooth like butter) without any problems and stream HD movies without any hiccups. My speed test..

These are the plans they offering in Punjab although i am sure other states might have similar or even better deals. Bsnl usually ignores Punjab when it comes to good and affordable plans.

Do you live in a society or individual residential home?
According to bsnl website. Fiber is available in my city Ambala. But there is no trace of fiber near my home. Can they still give me Fiber connection if i beg front of them? by offering them 1 year advance payment.
And where did you find these plans details? On bsnl official website these plans are not mentioned anywhere.

I downloaded that plan from here. Even though its promotional but seems like they planning to make it permanent because of good response.

You dont need to beg anyone. Just fill an application form. In my area, more people were interested in fiber so they had put a new line. If 4 or 5 people apply for new connections in your area they will put new fiber connection in just 2 or 3 days. It all depends upon demand in the area. I suggest you visit the BSNL office in your city and talk to them.

I live in a colony in an individual residential home.

Its between 1 to 2 km. They have done underground wiring and made a hub which is 400 meters from my home. They connect all new connections with that hub.

I live close to Ferozepur road opposite MBD mall and Hayat Regency. You from Ludhiana too?BSNL has covered a lot of areas with fiber in our city.

I am also close to Ferozepur road (BRS Nagar B Block) but not sure if BSNL ever did the digging here. The local exchange is in E block about 500m away so i'll check with them tomorrow.

@raman07 If its mentioned in documents than it means the fiber is in your city. But to know how much area is covered only they can tell you that.

@yougotmehere Also check with Netplus. I think they are available in your area. They provide fiber too.

I just disconnected netplus 50mbps plan last week after using it for more than 8 months. Only good for downloading but ping and general web surfing is pretty slow compared to Airtel. Airtel VDSL is great and can be better provided they upgrade to 60mbps or 80mbps speeds.

mickey your upload speed is not 50mbps. I have seen bsnl provide same upload as download. Are you going to ask them to increase it to meet with your download speed? Also can you post one speed test result of any Singapore server?

@yougotmehere Airtel was my first choice too but sadly they have no plans to provide wired internet in my area anytime soon so BSNL will do for now till i have better options.

@raman07 I never asked about upload speeds. I was more concerned with the ping/latency and download speeds. I dont use upload much but i will ask BSNL exchange if upload speed is capped in my area. Or if they can increase it. This is my speed test on Singapore server.
