I have finally decided to keep track of my internet traffic, what with all the posts about MTNL billing going haywire. can anybody suggest a good bandwidth monitor tool that will let me know my daily / monthly uploads and downloads and not too heavy on the system resourses also.

dumeter manits goodman

ya man dumeter just uses 4 megs of ram on my system

hm i`m looking for one tha would show me hourly downloads. i mean break up the download into how many mb`s done every hour.. .. any softie ?

right now on my system bwmeter is consuming 4220K ie 4.12 MBdumeter and bwmeter both show hourly downloads. Bwmeter has also got filters which allow u to exclude the data downloaded b/w 12 to 8 am so that u can find out how much out of 500 MB u hv consumed (for dsl NU)It is also excellent for Lan based ISP's like sify n hotwire coz u can specify the local ip range and it will not record the data packets hitting ur lan card as data transferred over internet..all others like dumeter show a constant download and upload of around 3 kbps on sify n hotwire even if u are not using the net.

huh? i have been using dumeter for such a long time ... it only shows daily, monthly and hourly downloads.. i`ll chk agaain.. lolll.

ohh i just chked its not there on dumeter.. .. i`m also using netlimiter. and this one shows me the break up of the 8 hours of incessant downloads 😛 ..!!.

didnt get ur question pal... 🤔 Used dumeter long time back..i can tell u for sure wat bwmeter does..it shows the downloaded MB's per hour..wat are u looking for? a per minute download record?

NetMeter
http://readerror.gmxhome.de/

Light on system resources, fairly accurate, maintains your daily. weekly and monthly download/upload statistics, and best of all it is free.

Also, it's interface is modeled after DU Meter, so the look and feel of both apps is very similar.

I'm a big fan of freeware apps, and always prefer to use freeware/open source tools, instead of going for trial versions / cracks of commercial apps 🙂

Right, DU meter does not show hourly downloads. How ever results of DU meter differ from those shown by my isp. I had read somewhere on this fourm that results from such software differ arnd 10% from those shown by ur isp, that difference can be quite large if down/uploads are high. I have been using DU meter from a long time, but it is useless as I always have to refer to results shown by BSNL service records.

DU meter records everything that is beeing upped and downloaded.. even when you visit your router homepage. Du meter counts that too..ya you can set DU meter to calculate only your internet downloads though..will use bandwitdh meter and see the results..
