Someone kindly suggest a good quality but lower priced WiFi Dongle/Adapter which I can use to receive and transmit WiFi signals on my Desktop PC from my MTNL Broadband router and/or my Android 4g phone (Redmi 4G) which I can buy online.

Early advice will be very helpful. Thanks. 🙂

you specifically want a usb based one? not a card that can be inserted in motherboard?

Yes, because I do not know whether I have any slot left for the Wi-Fi card on my desktop motherboard or not.

Is a Wi-Fi card better than a dongle/adapter for my purpose?

i used a motherboard based card few years ago and it worked great. it had a proper antenna and stuff and it used to catch wireless signals from pretty far away. i had to dump it because of zero support on windows 8 iirc.

haven't used usb based cards so cannot comment. hopefully someone else would be able to recommend a model. I only asked to check if cards were an option here.

Thanks for the reply. However, I want something for around Rs 200-300, Indian brand. Any suggestions?

Tenda 150Mbps wifi adapter is good one in Amazon.in, I purchased it last year for 199Rs - 15% cashback. Other good option is Binatone, Its very small and very sturdy but it gets very tight in usb slot, so if you will be using it for 1 PC/laptop only then Binatone is better otherwise go for Tenda. I ignored manufacturing country while recommending you the products. If you are using it for home use only where power adapter is available then bintone 150mbps router used to be sold on amazon for 320Rs. during last diwali which also gives you repeater function.

The one I linked is at 499rs right now with 3300 reviews of avg 4.5 stars. It doesn't get any better than this. cheap chinese dongles perform but they may randomly drop connections or in future drivers may not be available. just get the TP-Link one.

If budget doesn't allow, buy quantum wifi usb dongle. Among cheap stuff, quantum brand is good. Still i'd recommend getting a branded one or random chinese one

I am using Tata Sky Wifi Dongle with my desktop. It is doing very well. No wifi drops ever. It is a dual band wifi dongle.

If you are a Tata Sky user. You can request it from them. The price used to be Rs.300.

I bought a few for friends and family for Rs.500/- each from a Tata Sky technician.
