I hope people understand over here transportation is outside 200.
When he says in private market it will be 1000, it included the cost of transportation and storage. It also includes commission for everyone in the chain like distributor, retailer.

Its the government's job to absorb all that cost then. Polio vaccine was given free for decades. Imagine selling it for Rs 1000.

not to mention that you need two doses. so that's 2000 bucks. and in addition, doctors would add their own charges. parents on twitter were talking about how each vaccine dose for their kids at a private doctor for painless injection costs more than 5000 bucks.

also of course, 2000 is per person. if you have a family of four... that's 8000. and with additonal charges, you are looking at a bill above 10K. in major cities, it would probably be closer to 20K because that's how things usually operate.

And all this for vaccines with dubious trial record. Good way to get people to avoid it like they would do any avoidable medical expenditure. Good luck getting Covid under control through this route.

On the other hand, they have now said that the vaccine is not recommended for people under 18, pregnant women and people with allergies so i guess most families would only have to spend for only few of the members.

another thing. why is the government quiet on all this? why do they keep on coming out with contradicting statements? free vaccines for bihar? free vaccines for everyone? yet these companies are openly talking about selling them in the open market for 1000 bucks a dose? why don't just come out and admit that they are not going to vaccinate everyone for free?

even more fun is the story of the pricing of the vaccine for the government's dose. serum is at 200 bucks. bharat biotech which was supposed to be a backup drug only to be used in emergencies is actually closer to 300 bucks. but to bring the public perception price down, they are giving a some doses for free! so the actual price of the initial batch comes closer to 200 bucks!

and now in a few days government would come out with regulations for export of these drugs. probably to neighboring countries. maybe even to african countries. i mean i don't see europe or america buying these drugs.

From what I had heard in his interview on tv was that
1) Pvt sale could be possible only after getting required permission.
2) Pvt purchase of vaccine is for those who prefer not to wait for their turn in the govt roll out.
Of course this was many days ago & the situation may be different now.🤔
